[currently, the Doctor is crawling on the floor in the entrance of the ballroom, occasionally stopping to look and feel under the couches for something. he doesn't show it, but he's been rather shaken up--and he certainly is not happy]

Come on out! I know you're here somewhere. You've got to be! I felt you before you--[he pauses, his hand suddenly darting under a plush chair]--did whatever you did a few moments ago.

[uncertainly, he steps up behind the Doctor--but not too close] Doctor? Is...that you?

[sits up suddenly, banging his head on the underside of a nearby table] Ow! [sits up properly this time, rubbing his head] Of course it's me. Who else would it be?

[he doesn't glance up as he's feeling around under a chair again] Actually no, I--[he stops and gets up suddenly, heading right over to her]

You haven't seen anything like...[he trails off, his left hand gripping his right just above the wrist, wriggling his fingers]...like a disembodied hand crawling around, have you?

[ Sefton's yet to venture into anywhere that isn't the kitchen or library yet, so when he comes in and sees some guy yelling at the dust bunnies, he tries edging around him instead.

... of course, that's exactly the moment he trips and falls, just short of smacking his face on the tile floor. ] Ah—tch...

[he rolls over when he hears that, thinking it might be something else--but no, it's a young man. still, he jumps to his feet and heads right over] You all right? Looks like you took quite the spill there.

[Guess who decided to wander over after hearing the commotion (and also waking up)? That's right, the Doctor's favorite person ever. He leans over the back of one of the couches to watch him. It is very tempting to zap him while he isn't paying any attention. Instead he suddenly drops down onto his stomach to look under at him.]

[zapping him after he shared that popcorn?? the Doctor would have been quite indignant! (and in pain, but no matter...) he actually does jump back, letting out a yelp in surprise before he scowls]

Ohh, very funny. I'm surprised you're not in the kitchen--or are still trying to avoid that one person, what was her name again?

[Benny goes over to the plush chair the Doctor is searching under, leaning over the back of it so she can greet him if he looks up]

[he sees her feet--or rather a pair of feet as he isn't too sure who they belong to just yet] Hello, what have we got here? [aaaand he feels them, squeezing one foot to make sure disembodied feet haven't joined the disembodied hands crawling about]

[glances over his shoulder while he feels around underneath a particularly long sofa] Not a 'who', Damon. A 'what'. You haven't seen any disembodied hands crawling about, have you?

[Jade looks at the Doctor's search with a slightly bemused expression. He is holding one of the smaller hands by its palm, keeping its still-wriggling fingers just out of reach of his hand. He needs this one alive for his experiments.]

The larger ones show up if you stand in one place for too long.

[doesn't look up immediately] Do they really? How do you--[he glances over his shoulder, his eyes widening. immediately, he climbs to his feet and heads over] You caught one!

[John would stay away, except he hasn't been the most calm of people lately, and searching around for something that might not be there seems less crazy when you're doing it with someone else]

[absently, while he crawls over to the next sofa] We are looking for one or more disembodied hands. One of them grabbed me and--[realises that he doesn't recognise that voice and glances up] Sorry, don't think we've met. Or have we? I wouldn't be surprised if my other selves have, or other versions of myself for that matter.

[There is a tremendously loud BANG as the door slams open and hits the wall, and Jamie runs through it into the room. He quickly shuts it and turns around, only to see the Doctor crawling about on the floor. What is he doing?]

[he narrowly misses hitting his head on a table before sitting up] Jamie! I thought you might have been one of those hands running out of ballroom.

Hou, are you looking for those strange hands, my friend? They are curious little things, though they do not seem dangerous. {Of course Rider is seven feet tall and pretty much untouchable, so his perception is a bit off}
