[currently, the Doctor is crawling on the floor in the entrance of the ballroom, occasionally stopping to look and feel under the couches for something. he doesn't show it, but he's been rather shaken up--and he certainly is not happy]

Come on out! I know you're here somewhere. You've got to be! I felt you before you--[he pauses, his hand suddenly darting under a plush chair]--did whatever you did a few moments ago.

[shivers] Dare I ask what happens if I do?

[there's a rather awkward pause -- Damon doesn't want to answer that question, but he feels compelled to all the same] I was about to, before I came here. But then Commander Maxil barged into my quarters, looking for anything suspicious since he no longer has access to the computer room, and I'm a bit terrified, Doctor. If he discovers the merger I have with Jamie, no explanation will stop him from arresting me.

You'll be--well, I can imagine you'll be tossed back here, but not before you begin falling--falling so far that you'll feel like you'll never stop falling--but then you'll stop falling and turn up here. It might not sound so bad, but you know me, Damon, and I was afraid when that happened.

You've got a merger with Jamie? ...What kind? What's there?

[Damon places a reassuring hand on the Doctor's shoulder] Even though it scared you, I would still rather suffer the effects in your place if it meant I could protect you from going through it again. [...he frowns, as he didn't mean to say that either, but the sentiment is true]

And the merger with Jamie...well, I discovered it in the closet of my bedroom. It's a merger with his Doctor's TARDIS...though I have only seen Jamie there. Still, I suppose it's only a matter of time before I run into your self as well.

[firmly] No. I don't want that to happen to you, no matter how much you want to protect me. But thank you. [he smiles, then moves to stand]

[and then he begin to chuckle] You've got a gateway to the TARDIS...through your closet? No, wait, why is Maxil suspecting you of anything? The Castellan ought to have backed off by now.

[smiles] I do, yes. And I don't know...I don't even know if the Castellan is involved at all, I -- Doctor! [he moves to push Ten out of the way of a sneaky crawly hand, protecting the Doctor despite his wishes. Of course, he's grabbed by the hand himself. And he's falling -- falling forever -- then he's back at the entrance.]

Damon! [he scrambles to his feet and over to his friend] Damon, are you all right?

[It takes Damon a moment to recover -- he understands why the Doctor was afraid. He nods, though, and attempts to stand.] I'm glad you're all right, Doctor.

Always am. [a slight lie, but hey. he offers Damon a hand up] I'm more concerned about you, though.

[shakes his head, taking the Doctor's hand] That feeling reminds me of how I felt when I thought you had been executed. [...which is also something he hadn't meant to reveal. Have a confused frown, Ten.]
