[currently, the Doctor is crawling on the floor in the entrance of the ballroom, occasionally stopping to look and feel under the couches for something. he doesn't show it, but he's been rather shaken up--and he certainly is not happy]

Come on out! I know you're here somewhere. You've got to be! I felt you before you--[he pauses, his hand suddenly darting under a plush chair]--did whatever you did a few moments ago.

Oh, do you think so? What do you imagine it could be?

Well, there could always be some unseen entity attached to it. After all, the only free-walking hands I can recall ever seeing was on the telly. Smart hand, as well, by name of "Thing". But that helpful hand wasn't decaying and didn't look like someone had chopped or ripped it off someone.

What do you think of this interesting situation we're in?

Oh, you have not? I have seen something somewhat similar, but it was the work of a powerful magus. {He frowns darkly} A man devoid of honor, however. Killing children and innocents for the power? Bah.

{He shakes his head} But of this situation? It is a challenge! Bucephalus was irritated by it at first, but even he has accepted the challenge with grace! Though, I feel bad for any of these beasts that may approach him. Haha, Bucephalus will not hesitate for a moment to trample them!

Well, I might have done, but I've been hit over the head a number of times in the past, and there were times when I couldn't remember certain things. It's very well possible. But unfortunately, I have run into men--and women--like that. Far, far too many times to recount. [there's a dark note in both his expression and voice--but is gone as quick as it came]

Bucephalus? You've really got Bucephalus here? ...You didn't happen to, erm, reclaim him at all when we were given those eggs, did you?

It is unfortunate. But such dishonorable men and women, their crimes will follow them. It is only fair, is it not?

{But he laughs, shaking his head} Oh, no, nothing like that! I was merely out for a ride through Brucheum with Bucephalus, and here we were!

The universe does have a way of evening things out, yes. But sometimes, not soon enough.

Oh, really? Well! That does answer one thing, I suppose. [but speaking of animals from those eggs, he's very glad his little flying lemur, Rollo, was left curled up on the central console]

{But Rider stops, drawing his sword and turning to pin a rather large hand to the wall. Then laughs jovially about it}

Haha, it seems I've found one! ...Hmm, hopefully the owner of this place will not mind the hole.

[he blinks in surprise for a moment, then steps forward to have a look at, slipping his glasses on in a flash] Ohhhh, I think a little sword wound is the least of his or her worries. Could you leave the sword in for a moment?

{The fingers are wiggling in futility and quite frantically, but Rider's sword has it pinned pretty well}

Of course! Please, have a look, my friend. It was trying to sneak up on me, so it's only fair that you get a look before it is taken care of.

[pokes one of the fingers, then inspects what's left of the wrist with his sonic screwdriver to check for any mechanical devices] Hmm, nothing seems to be controlling them. No strings, no remote signal...

It seems like a magus's work, though an odd one. Reanimating only a hand seems like a trouble and an annoyance more than an actual threat! Reanimating the entire thing would be more useful, I would imagine.

Well, I can imagine that's what's happened to the creatures out there. [points at the doors leading outside] Do you come across people like a magus often?

Not often anymore! I live in a word separate from magi--Though I suppose those Caster fellows could count, but they are a disagreeable bunch. I am not fond of the Caster class, I would have to say. They have no nobility amongst them!
