[currently, the Doctor is crawling on the floor in the entrance of the ballroom, occasionally stopping to look and feel under the couches for something. he doesn't show it, but he's been rather shaken up--and he certainly is not happy]

Come on out! I know you're here somewhere. You've got to be! I felt you before you--[he pauses, his hand suddenly darting under a plush chair]--did whatever you did a few moments ago.

[casually as he crosses the room, ever vigilant for those hands] Oh, doctor of just about everything actually. You wouldn't believe how many times I've been asked that. [drops down behind a couch suddenly]

[And this is when Ten's choice kicks in] I don't actually believe you're a real doctor. [He frowns, seeming surprised and displeased with himself for having said anything. Though even as he talks, he follows along behind the couch]

[he glances back up at John] Why? Because I'm not wearing a lab coat? Or a stethoscope? I don't have to operate on someone or prescribe them medicine to be a doctor. Besides, I'm not a doctor of medicine anyway. Never enough time to do the practical.

[He crouches down next to him] You don't seem like the kind of person who would be a doctor.

[he grins mischievously] Well, you'll just have to wait and see, huh?

I don't have very good memories of that. It's how I ended up getting shot, actually. [He seems confused that he would admit to the last part]
