[The Doctor is in a relatively good mood, and it may have something to do with the fact that he's got one of his companions with him. This companion is a fluffy black cat named Mortimer, who is currently lapping up a saucer of milk. The Doctor shakes his head as he watches him.]

Dunno how you can stand the stuff. All the species in all the universe and it has to come out of a cow.

Suppose it's a good thing we restocked the kitchen, though. 'Course, it's gonna have to be restocked every couple of weeks now that we've got so many mouths to feed. [He doesn't sound overly frustrated by this, however. Quite the opposite, in fact.] Remember when it was just you and me? Blimey, seems like forever ago... [he trails off, brooding for a moment. Then he turns his attention to Mortimer again, since the cat is demanding it by plopping down onto Nine's lap.]

Speaking of new companions, d'you think we ought to get another cat? Seems like you could use a feline friend, and maybe one who's mum won't try to claw me to death. No more domestics for me, thanks!

[snorts] Your scarf's not an issue, I'm awake in the middle of the night anyway, and I've got Omega for a companion too. He's a fair bit more aloof than a cat, and that's saying something.

[Consider this a check-up for the Doctor. Brax just wants to make sure he isn't going to start waxing lyrical about needing a new best enemy and all.] You know, I've been told talking to cats is the first sign of wisdom. Apparently, I was told wrong.

[Braxiatel offers Mortimer a saucer of cream, because that's what you do when you meet cats: you offer them sacrifices like they're particularly temperamental Gods.]

[the fact that he'd just had an entire saucer of milk doesn't seem to deter Mortimer, who laps up the cream quite happily. The Doctor grumbles, and ignores Brax's comment.] Oi, stop spoiling my cat. That's my job.

Mm, I don't think your cat likes me very much. Not many animals do, but I wouldn't think you were a cat person, anyways. I would have guessed dogs.

Been a long time since I've had a dog. 'Course, he was an android dog, but he was absolutely fantastic.

[Straxus gets a grin, but the Doctor's eyes are tired] Why not? I'm always in the market for new companions. But I was just thinking about a feline friend for Mortimer here, mostly. Can't ever have too many cats. [especially not if you're a Crazy Cat Lady :|]

[Billy has just finished constructing his first set of Remote-Control Dimensional Tracking Devices. Remote-Control Dimensional Tracking Devices are little cameras and audio recorders in the shape of tiny spiders that Billy will plant on choice Plane-dwellers in order to learn more information about their dimensions and the Plane. Each device, when activated, would record audio and video and transmit the information back to Billy's hand-held Horrible Remote. The trackers are also capable of mathematically calculating absolute cross-dimensional location by coordinates.

Billy already ran the devices on himself for calibration purposes. Now all that is left to do is to test them out on a real subject.

It is a random stroke of luck, then, that Billy runs into the Ninth Doctor, an established hero-type. And he's seated. On the floor. Preoccupied by a cat. With his back exposed.

This couldn't be more beautiful. But in order for him to land the device and tag the Doctor properly, he would need to move in close. Have you ever tried throwing a spider onto a one and a half foot target from 10 yards away? It isn't as easy as it sounds.

So Billy sneaks closer. And closer. And closer, his lips parted in concentration. And just when he's only a couple feet away, he leans forward and quietly attempts to flick the device onto the Doctor's upper back.]

[the nice thing about having Very Large ears is that it's easy to pick up Very Small Noises, like someone trying to be sneaky, or the sound of a small device connecting with a leather jacket. The kitty mews, and the Doctor turns around, pretending it was the cat who had alerted him to Billy's presence.]

Trying to sneak in for the screwdriver, Dr. Horrible? It's not gonna work. My pockets are dimensionally transcendental.

Um.

[Great. The one time he's actually not planning a heist for the immediate future, and he's accused of one. Well, at least his tracking device hit home. He cynically mumbles this next bit under his breath,]

[it's a cat! Guess who has two thumbs and adores cats? This girl! Nevermind you, Doctor, she is zeroing in on your cat]

[she kneels down in front of Nine, but her attention is on the cat who she starts stroking. She has also started talking in that baby voice people adopt with animals and babies]

Oh hello you. Who's an adorable kitty? You are, yes you are.

[she looks up at the Doctor offhandedly, her voice going back to normal]

Oh, hello Doctor.

[and back to the cat and the baby voice]

And a patient kitty too, traveling around with strange men the way you do. Yes you are, aren't you?

[she's cut off as the cat bounces off of Nine's lap and jumps into the lap of the person who is worshiping him the most effectively, as is the nature of cats]

[Benny can't help but burst out laughing, looking up at the Doctor rather smugly before returning her attention to the cat]

But you are a very smart cat, aren't you? Absolutely brilliant, and fabulous taste as well.
