[the Doctor stands outside the library, Meredith's words of caution from the projection surfacing in one of his many passing thoughts:

"Be careful in the library."

for the Doctor, that's like slapping a big ol' "DO NOT ENTER" sign on it and expecting him to stay out. of course, it's a sign that he'll brazenly ignore and continue on his merry way just like he's always done.

but he has another reason for heading for the library besides some not-quite-so-amateur sleuthing...]

[to no one in particular:] Well, let's hope the bookworms haven't decided to revolt!

[he pushes the doors open with a flourish and heads in]

[very seriously] Oh, no, I don't think this sort of environment could sustain their particular breed of mutation.

[shrugs slightly, casually rubbing his chin] Nah, definitely not. In the very least, they could mutate into a breed that has a taste for rare books--or something like the Twilight series novels. Never can tell what their tastes will be like...

[Braxiatel smiles and takes a seat.] You wanted to talk. I have . . . certain obligations these days, and I need to attend to them. So if you'd care to start? With as little preamble as you can manage.

[he doesn't sit] Actually, I was thinking we should talk somewhere a little farther in. More private that way. I certainly won't be the only one coming in and out of here to investigate.

Besides, time freezes back in our realities, so what's the rush? [he gives him a cheeky smile of his own and turns on his heel]

Well, nothing has erupted into flames quite yet.

[groans slightly] Oh, don't say that! That's like saying what could be worse and following it up with, "At least it isn't raining."!

itt, we learn what the space bar does

It seemed more appropriate than commenting on the fact that no eldritch horror has appeared yet.

[Spotting this, Jamie decides he's going to follow, and quietly enters the library behind the Time Lord.]

What are ye looking for, Doctor?

[glances at Jamie, his face splitting into a grin] Haven't a clue! Only that it's something that we ought to be careful of in here which, well, could be anything.

So you're looking for trouble, then. [Jamie draws himself up a little, and walks over to Ten's side. If Victoria or Zoe had been there, he would have nodded smugly at them in a 'I told you so' sort of way. As it is, there's still the faintest echo of it in his voice.]

Aye, well, I can't say I'm surprised. Where do ye want to go first?

[Box was curious about the library thing too. He wanted to just not to go near it until there are news that nothing terrible would happen. So he is just in time to see the strange man's actions.]

Wha-what what what are you doing?! Hey, uh, you, uh, mister, err-- sir! [Seriously, how would western people call after the other?!]

[he stops, confused, and turns around] Sorry, yes? [spots Box] Ah, hello there. Is something wrong?

[Shifts his weight a bit nervously.] It's just-- it's just they said to be careful, n-no? Not to invade, maybe it's dangerous or something, there could be monsters, or well, I don't know, mud? Or germs.

[ ... Well, he saw that. And he saw the message, which in itself was curious enough, but he didn't fully understand it, being new and all. And so, cane in hand, Break does the natural thing: he follows the Doctor inside. After a moment's pause, it's from over his shoulder that he speaks up. So yes, he is behind you creeping like a creepy creeper with his pleasant smile. ]

And whatever shall we do if they decide to attack with their books, I wonder?

[he spins around hearing that question--though in truth, he did have a feeling something was there; he just isn't letting that on]

Well! I suspect we'll have to resort to using pens to fend them off.

[ Annnnd he takes a very silly sort of half-skip half-step inside. He hasn't sensed any danger, therefore, he doesn't care about it. Yet. ]

I certainly hope your penmanship is good enough to fend them off, in such a case. You know, they did always say curiosity killed the cat~!

[ Another skip-step, and he pauses to look back at the Doctor, smiling. ] I rather like to hope you don't fancy yourself to be a cat.

[Narvin has slipped his babysitter, as one does, and is going to just watch Ten with the frank skepticism of a six-year-old.]

What are you doing?

[he looks up--he's in the middle of flipping through a rather boring book--and his face splits into a grin] Ohhhhhh, look at you! [he heads straight over to Narvin, highly amused] You're even shorter than I thought you'd be. How old are you, anyway? Can't be more than...[pulls a slight face as he glances at him, pats Narvin's head very briefly to perform a height check]...ohh, I'd say five. Yeah, five at the most.

Narvin glares at Ten, both for getting his age wrong and for that pat on the head.] I'm six. Who are you?

[heads in behind him] You know, I was wondering how long it'd take you.

Well, I had to wait until I was sure you'd be right behind me when I went in.

[scoffs] Like I would've been anywhere else. [smiles, trying to look as much like his normal cheerful self as possible]

[rolls right in behind him] I was a librarian. We have sprays for that.

[smiles, amused] Do you really? Got to keep them in line somehow, huh?

[nods, even as her gaze wanders over the library, scrutinising the sight] They're voracious breeders, you know, you really have to keep on top of the situation.
