[the Doctor stands outside the library, Meredith's words of caution from the projection surfacing in one of his many passing thoughts:

"Be careful in the library."

for the Doctor, that's like slapping a big ol' "DO NOT ENTER" sign on it and expecting him to stay out. of course, it's a sign that he'll brazenly ignore and continue on his merry way just like he's always done.

but he has another reason for heading for the library besides some not-quite-so-amateur sleuthing...]

[to no one in particular:] Well, let's hope the bookworms haven't decided to revolt!

[he pushes the doors open with a flourish and heads in]

[he might have said the wrong age on purpose just to be a jerk.] Oh, well, nobody's perfect.

[He crosses his arms, a bit petulant.]

Narvin. ...what kind of name is 'the Doctor'?

[folds his arms too.] It's the name I chose, if you really want to know.

Why did you choose it?

Because I could. [but if that's the real answer or not, he's not saying]

So! I heard you were staying with a couple friends of mine! Taking a break from not playing with the Collection's valuables?

I haven't been there.[He looks a little worried.] And they don't want me going back to Gallifrey yet, either...

[he frowns] No, huh? [scratches his chin] Well, I can understand not going back to Gallifrey. The food's better here, for one.

[suddenly squats down so he's a little closer to being at Narvin's eye level, his tone utterly serious] Have you tried chocolate yet?

...no. [Was he supposed to? Braxiatel hadn't mentioned it...]

[his face lights up] Do you want to try a bit? And just a bit; too much will rot your teeth.

[He considers this seriously for a moment, then nods.]

Well, okay.

[bit_impossible]

[he stands up in a flash and reaches for the little Coordinator's hand] Right then, come with me! [he starts to run]

[Narvin looks startled at the hand-holding, and gives Ten a sceptical look as they run.]

...why are we running?

[bit_impossible]

[sceptical look, what sceptical look?] Well, why not? We get there faster! See? [he points at the kitchen up ahead] We're much closer to it now than we were a moment ago!

But we don't need to run.

[Okay, that's enough physical contact for now, thanks. He's just going to try and drop Ten's hand.]

[he slows his pace before he does let go of Narvin's hand, having felt it slip from his grip] Oh, you're such a spoil sport and you haven't even started at the Academy yet! Sure, we don't need to run, but it gets the blood pumping--and it makes chocolate taste all the better the moment it hits your tongue. [this is, of course, a lie; chocolate tastes good no matter what one did before enjoying any]

Well, never mind. You're still young! You'll learn. [opens the door to the kitchen] Let's see what they've got, hmm?

[Narvin follows him in, glancing around the kitchen. He can juuuust barely see over the counters.]

So what's so important about chocolate?

Everything! [starts poking his head into the cabinets] Royalty alone was allowed to partake in a liquid form of it, but now it's available to everyone! Personally, I love a good chocolate shake, but the classic dairy milk ought to suit our introductory purposes. [shame he doesn't have Evelyn with him; she'd have a few in her handbag!]

I think--yes! [he stands up straight and closes the door to the bottom cabinet he was searching through] Got to love this kitchen sometimes. Never fails to have what you need. [holds out a bar of it out to Narvin] Go on, try a piece. You'll have to unwrap it though, not unless you want a bit of additional fibre.
