(no subject)

[sets down various weapons as stolen from Minato's under-the-bed armory. It is worth noting that he's chosen to relax at the bar, and that there is an opened bottle of whisky on the counter]

House fire in Kingston upon Hull, six-year-old boy dead. It's considered an accident.

Ethics in altering the past you know as a fact while back in time: discuss.

[drinks from his glass of whisky]

Or don't.

[and another drink!]

A word, Guv.

[slides up next to him] You should never ever do it. Unless you know what you're doing.

The 'learning through mistakes' approach?

[mildly] If Manchester hasn't imploded or been attacked by Reapers yet, then you can't have messed up too horribly.

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, Death is very nosy. Wouldn't be surprising to see her mucking around. Time, too, for that matter. But Reapers are entirely different. Creatures that feed off paradoxes and in that way fix them.

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
All right then. Think of a paradox or unnatural time alterations as bacteria that Reapers act as white blood cells to. 'Course, the latter usually leads to implosions, so! You're not imploded yet.

I think you'd notice if Manchester imploded, Sam. It's hard to miss.

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-27 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
If you were in a coma when Manchester imploded, you'd no longer be able to hold up an illusion.

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-27 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm, nah. Doesn't work like that. Any other theories?

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-28 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hm? Oh, good point. Might not work like that for you. Or in your universe. Can't really assume you're from mine in this place. [leans over the bar counter] Think they have tea here?

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-28 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
[and hops easily over the bar and starts rummaging through things] Always hard to get a good cuppa in a pub like this. You'd think I'd carry some around in my pockets by now.

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-28 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[looks up with a grin] Rowling! And just a bit, yeah. But what if I'm stuck on in the Third Great Fiijan Empire during the Martin Domain? Then I would be quite glad I had tea in my pockets.

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-28 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
[clicks his tongue and possibly smirking] What? And then get the chance to ramble on and on about things like the Silica Revolt and the Trade of the Winds and Yaqar's Ten while you stare at me, completely captivated by my every word, asking more questions and all that? Sounds just a bit vain.

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-03-28 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oi! Now that's just being rude, Sam Tyler. [hums and spins a bottle around] I hope you're not planning on sitting around getting pissed and pondering ethics.
