[There's a strangely attractive woman taking over your library today, Plane. Sirkka is indulging herself. On the long study table beside her, there's a setting of Earl Grey for four and some delicious chocolate-dipped cookie treats— all things she took from the community kitchen, of course. Sirkka has her long legs crossed over another chair while she sips her tea. She's enjoying her book too much to care about manners, even laughing every once in a while. Must be a comedy right?

Nah, just Twilight.]

This really is like secondary school.

[If one is as empathic as she is, they might detect a sort of dark, lingering thought beneath all of this that she's trying to distract herself from.]

There is. Primary school is for when you're little, like about five, and then you get into secondary school around twelve or thirteen, and you stay there 'til you're about sixteen.

[She looks at his clothes.]

Though... you probably never got that chance, did you? You're dressed for adventure, or at least live in that kind of place. It's different in rural areas.

{Noa has been checking out the library, since she's never seen real books before--all she's ever seen are the cheap things like instruction manuals and paper pamphlets. Bound books are only for the rich. But when she hears Sirkka, she pops around the corner, smiling}

Ah, just reading to pass the time. [She sets the book aside.] It's definitely tea! Go ahead and sit and help yourself to some biscotti. I'm being lazy today.

Who would want first editions of this? You could ask a third grader to write a love story and get something much more original, I'm sure. Then again, I suppose that's what's wonderful and surprising about it.

Tea, Mr. Braxiatel?

They had a very interesting effect on certain social groups. My researchers for that period need them as much as they need Harry Potter. I thought the novels themselves were a curious case study into the human mind.
