[let it not be said the TARDIS is without a sense of humour. as a matter of fact, she has an almost vicious one, and since it's April Fools Day on the Doctor's favourite planet, she's decided to use this quaint custom to rile things up. what can she say, it's been a rather stressful few days. she could use the fun.

and so! enter the Rani -- or, at least, a TARDIS!projection of the Rani, in all her arrogant and disdainful glory]

So this is where you've holed yourselves up, then, Doctor? Master? [sniffs] How very droll.

[laughs] The feel was just a bit off. You're good at masking it but it was enough to make me look closer. Any specific reason you felt like being the Rani?

I shall have to work on that, then. I'll trick you yet, Doctor. [and she smiles a little mischievously] I thought perhaps you'd appreciate the prank.

You almost had me, old girl. And oh? Why a prank?

Almost is not good enough. And because today is the First of April. According to my databanks, it is a day where people play jokes and pranks on one another. I thought you'd like the reminder from your favourite planet.

[slow, glowing smile] April Fool's! You're celebrating an Earth holiday!

[blinks, somewhat surprised by his reaction] I wouldn't say celebrating, no, but...I thought I would do something to cheer you up, after all the things that have happened lately.

[pulls her into a tight, sudden hug and laughs] Wouldn't have expected you to! But yes! You know this holiday comes from people pranking others soon after a standard calendar was adopted?

[surprise hug! TARDIS likes these and hugs back!] No...I do not have any of the actual history, only the customs. Why would they do that?

[hugs firmly for another moment before pulling back] Oh, well, not everyone knew the calendar had switched, so people liked to pretend April 1st was New Year's and prank others.

Is that so? [awww, no more hugs. she was enjoying that, Doctor] So why do they continue doing it? It seems such a waste of energy.

[she must get another! or poke him into one] Why not? Tradition! France had one about slapping people with dead fish. All that stuff evolves into the traditions Earth eventually gets.

[she can totally do that! so she steps closer~] And you enjoy this planet why, again?

[grins] Because! Humans are just so...all the little, simple, silly things they do...it's very human of them.

They are human, Doctor. I should hope that's how they're acting. [touches his arm, pressing her fingers to his] Have you ever celebrated this holiday of theirs? Or any, for that matter? You spend so much time away from me when we visit that planet, I often wonder if you've disappeared.

[taps his fingers fondly against hers] Oh, a few, certainly! Christmas is the most common one. New Year's, too. I've ended up on regional holidays or local festivals before, too.

Christmas...you give gifts on that holiday, do you not? [hand porn~] You never bring me gifts, Doctor.

[hand porn ftw] Hm, you're right. All right! What do you like, old girl?

[she likes this too much, really. touchy feely TARDIS. aaaand cue playing with your hair, Doctor] You have to ask? Surprise me, Doctor.

[he just laughs and smiles] All right, I'll get you a present. I'm rubbish at getting gifts, though. Always debating over things.

[nods, leaning in to nuzzle him] That's fine, Doctor. Anything you get me would be wonderful. [mischievous smile] Perhaps you could get me something a human woman would like?

[pets the TARDIS~] Hm, something like that, eh? I'll do my best, then. End of the week at the most.

[aaaand hugs him, complete with petting] I'll be waiting, then~

[hugs her tightly] All right then. One Christmas gift a la human woman coming up.

[yaaaaaay hugging! she likes hugging. and petting your hair, Doctor] When and where shall I meet you for this, then?

[he likes the petting, so that's okay] Hmm...how about that bit of ocean and beach I have here?
