[let it not be said the TARDIS is without a sense of humour. as a matter of fact, she has an almost vicious one, and since it's April Fools Day on the Doctor's favourite planet, she's decided to use this quaint custom to rile things up. what can she say, it's been a rather stressful few days. she could use the fun.

and so! enter the Rani -- or, at least, a TARDIS!projection of the Rani, in all her arrogant and disdainful glory]

So this is where you've holed yourselves up, then, Doctor? Master? [sniffs] How very droll.

[smirks a bit] I like to think I'm worth the anticipation.

If you weren't, I wouldn't feel it in the first place. [presses a hand to his cheek] You are worth a great many things.

[smiles and puts his hand over hers] 'Course I am. You too, you know. We're quite a pair, eh? The Doctor and the TARDIS.

Mmmm. [smiles, bowing her head] What am I worth to you, Doctor?

The stars. [yes, he really thought of that first] That's how I see them, isn't it? Through you.

[that's the single most romantic thing ever ; ; have a very tight hug, Doctor, with the TARDIS whispering in your ear] You do. Them, and every world in-between. I would give you more, if I could. All the universes, all the galaxies -- every moment in existence.

[the Doctor is good at romance when he's not thinking he's on the spot for it! Or, you know, being romantic in the first place. and he hugs her tightly back] We have time to see it. That's the fun of travel, isn't it? Knowing there's still something new to see out there.

[then perhaps the TARDIS is better off with him being naive in regards to her feelings (she disagrees, of course)] I know. Learning something new ... I never dreamt it possible, at one point. Not on Gallifrey, not tucked away. But you, Doctor... [holds him and rests her head on his chest] You gave the stars back to me.

[the question is how naive is he. sometimes he just pretends to be after all] Well, then, we gave that to each other at the same time. Quite handy, really.

[well, she says if he's pretending he can stop now :/ and she's poking his nose playfully now] And yet you spend such inordinate amounts of time on that one little planet. One would think you'd lost sight of the stars, Doctor.

[and he laughs] Nah, I like Earth well enough but I still travel everywhere.

Then tell me. Where shall we go next? What have you always wanted to see?

Oooh, I dunno. It's quite a lot of fun to just wander into places, really.

You mean wander into danger, don't you?

[grins] It's more interesting that way.

For you, perhaps. I'd rather not have my hull blown up or boiled down again, thank you.

I'm getting better at fixing you, at least.

You are. You did a wonderful job after the whole Zagreus incident, for instance. [turns around, arms outstretched, as if that shows how well he repaired her exterior] Your painting skills could use some work, though.

Ah, well, I've never really liked painting.

So I've noticed. [smiles] But you take care of the parts of me that matter. That's what's most important. And I take care of you. [strokes his cheek] You know, Doctor. The child, Fumie...she asked me what I wished for, but I can't fathom doing such a thing. You, however...what do you wish for?

[looks a bit surprised] Ohhh, I dunno...If I started to think about that, I'd end up with too much to wish for.

Perhaps, but. Could you try? For me?

[takes a deep breath, hands going into his pockets] I'd wish for a lot of things. I wish the Time War had gone differently. And that I wasn't the one who ended it. I wish I would have gone back for Susan. I wish I could have saved Adric. I wish I hadn't needed to manipulate Ace like I did. I wish I could do something for Jack. I wish the Master and I didn't need to fight. I wish I could see Rose's little sister. I wish... [pauses, then laughs, realizing he was speaking faster and more freely the more he listed] That's why wishing is dangerous.

[pets his cheek, then rests a hand on his chest] I do not understand wishing, not really. I have everything I could want, so long as you are with me. But ... I understand need. [pet pet] There are things from your past you need, do you not? Companionship, your family ... I could give you that, if you truly want it.

[smiles, not quite understanding] You already give me companionship.
