[See Doctor. See Doctor run. See Doctor run ~~half-naked~~ on the Plane. Actually he is sort of half-naked, considering his purple jumper is torn nearly to shreds, and his signature leather jacket is nowhere to be seen. Basically, he looks like he got clawed by a large, angry animal. Which he quite possibly has been, if the long, bloody scratch marks are any indication. He stops when he realises he managed to escape (for now), laughing to himself and shaking his head.] Now that's what I call convenient. I ought to try this more often.

[wry smile] Not much to be done about it, is there?

[the smile widens, and there's a glint in his weary eyes] Not true, actually. [slips his wand from the sleeve of his robe into his hand]

[is somewhat startled by that wand there] ...Magic?

[slight nod] Yes. I can clot the blood, if you like.

[he gives Remus a bit of a dubious look for a moment, before nodding hesitantly] Alright.

[reassuring smile as he steps forward] It won't do anything else, promise. [then he sets to work, waving the wand in precise motions at the injuries, murmuring a single Latin phrase; soon enough, the bleeding has stopped entirely]

[he watches with a rather fascinated expression] Fantastic! That wand of yours...is that where all the power comes from, or does it just channel things? Focus it? 'Cause I've got this friend who taught me a bit of magic, but there weren't any wands involved. Just emerald dust.

[straightens, smiling earnestly] The magic is internal, but most spells require a focus – it doesn't need to be a wand, really, but they intensify the power quite a bit. In my world, at least.

Thought so. I'm still trying to sort this all out...we haven't got magic in my universe. It doesn't exist. Not that I've seen, anyway.

[the smile turns wry] It's easier to miss than you'd think. Magic users are hidden, where I come from – there's an entirely different world, and most of the other half has no idea it exists. [his expression darkens a bit] Of course, we help with that.

[frowns] How d'you mean?

Charms to confuse people, misdirect them...alter their memories.

[bitterly] 'Course. Can't hide well enough, make them forget. ...I take it you're not entirely happy with the situation?

I don't like it when people aren't treated like people. When they're considered lesser because it's more convenient, more simple. [another wry smile] Of course, it helps that my father's a Muggle.

[nods sympathetically] The Time Lords were the same way. Humans were thought of as a lesser species.

[a spark of curiosity lightens his eyes] Those are your people?

Sort of, yeah. [long pause] They're gone now.

[the spark fades with horror and grief for a people he doesn't know] I'm sorry. ...What - [a sharp shake of his head] Sorry.

[awkward shrug] There was a war. The last great Time War. ...We lost.

[after a moment, quietly] We're in a war, too. …I don't know if anyone ever really wins.

[sympathetic smile] There is no real "winning" when it comes to wars in general, in my opinion.

[returns it] And yet...some still need to be fought, because the alternative is worse.

[he nods, ~~brooding~~ quiet for a moment, and then he glances at Remus again, changing the subject] ...Thanks, by the way, for this. [gestures at the clotted wounds] Means I won't have to hang around here and wait for them to heal. ...Not that waiting around here is so terrible, mind you. Brilliant company and all that. [winks]

[glances down with a faint, bashful smile] It's nothing, really. [gestures around them] This place...really is wonderful, though.

[d'aww, Remus. Nine returns that smile warmly] It is, yeah. For the most part.
