[See Doctor. See Doctor run. See Doctor run ~~half-naked~~ on the Plane. Actually he is sort of half-naked, considering his purple jumper is torn nearly to shreds, and his signature leather jacket is nowhere to be seen. Basically, he looks like he got clawed by a large, angry animal. Which he quite possibly has been, if the long, bloody scratch marks are any indication. He stops when he realises he managed to escape (for now), laughing to himself and shaking his head.] Now that's what I call convenient. I ought to try this more often.

Well, you may be lying, or teasing, or obfuscating - hard to know, so far. [slight nod] We can't use such information against each other, not in the way people in our worlds can. It's safer to be honest here. [looks thoughtful, and a bit wistful] People seem a bit more - open-minded, too, by and large.

[nods too] It's definitely a different sort of environment. Normally, I wouldn't even be mentioning I was a Time Lord. [and now it's his turn for a wry smile] Not that most would have any idea what a Time Lord was. Or they'd consider them a myth.

Time Lords are reclusive too, then?

[nods] They were, yeah. Had a strict non-interference policy. Well, sort of. [dryly] They'd call back renegades like me if they actually needed someone to interfere.

[shakes his head] I wish I could say I was shocked.

[sighs] Nobody ever learns, do they? Doesn't do anyone any good if you've got all this power, and all you do is lock yourselves away from the universe with it.

[earnest nod] We could do so much good for the Muggle world, and we could learn a lot from them, too, but.. [frustrated sigh]

[he gives Remus an encouraging smile] Don't give up, yeah? You've got to do what you can to change things, even if the odds seem impossible.

[and a faint smile in return] Aim for the moon and you'll at least reach the stars?

[it fades, then, into something grim and determined] We'll need to win this War first. At least stop the world getting worse.

[laughs] Something like that, yeah.

[but then he sobers, nodding] Just make sure you don't make the world worse by winning.

[darkly] I'd like to tell that to the Ministry.

[his tone matches Remus', though it's also laced with guilt] You ought to. Trust me, I've been there. When the only way to win means wiping out everything...you've got to find another way. If you can.

[his brow furrows, his gaze becoming inquisitive, worried - and sympathetic] I doubt they'll listen to the likes of me, but...we'll do our best.

[shrugs] Never hurts to try. [smiles a bit] And don't sell yourself short. Nobody's ever insignificant when it comes to making a difference.

[wry smile] No, but it's more difficult for some than others. That doesn't mean I won't try, I'll just do it a bit...differently.

[chuckles fondly] A man after my own hearts. Nothing wrong with doing things differently at all.

[raises eyebrows] How many do you have?

[smirks] Hearts? Two. [ruefully] Had a stethoscope in my jacket pocket, but I haven't got it with me.

[amused] For when people asked?

Maybe. [grins] They're also just plain useful. Never know when you'll find yourself needing a stethoscope. [thoughtful pause] Might be able to go back for it, I'd just ruin your brilliant handiwork. [gestures at the wounds Remus clotted]

You sound like James. [...stern look] And it's not worth bleeding for.

James? Who's James? [shakes his head] I've got to go back anyway; might as well do it sooner rather than later. Don't worry, alright? I've faced worse than a giant cat. [winks]

[grins, for once looking as young as he is] One of my best friends. Very resourceful, sometimes for no particular reason. [...reluctant nod] Be careful. ...I wonder if we'll ever create a permanent shield charm.

[beams cheerfully] I'm flattered, then. And you might have a bit of luck if you mix in some technology, but we can talk shop later. I'll be back in a mo'!

[and with that, he drops off the Plane. It's a somewhat lengthy wait before he returns, but when he stumbles onto it (and coincidentally, into Remus), he's clutching his ~~security blanket~~ leather jacket. His condition is, er, considerably worse off than before, but he still looks rather pleased with himself] Fantastic! Best run I've had in a good long while.

[Remus takes hold of him instinctively, steadying the Doctor gently] I'd hate to see how you'd look after a bad one. [he'll be assessing your injuries now]
