[See Doctor. See Doctor run. See Doctor run ~~half-naked~~ on the Plane. Actually he is sort of half-naked, considering his purple jumper is torn nearly to shreds, and his signature leather jacket is nowhere to be seen. Basically, he looks like he got clawed by a large, angry animal. Which he quite possibly has been, if the long, bloody scratch marks are any indication. He stops when he realises he managed to escape (for now), laughing to himself and shaking his head.] Now that's what I call convenient. I ought to try this more often.

James? Who's James? [shakes his head] I've got to go back anyway; might as well do it sooner rather than later. Don't worry, alright? I've faced worse than a giant cat. [winks]

[grins, for once looking as young as he is] One of my best friends. Very resourceful, sometimes for no particular reason. [...reluctant nod] Be careful. ...I wonder if we'll ever create a permanent shield charm.

[beams cheerfully] I'm flattered, then. And you might have a bit of luck if you mix in some technology, but we can talk shop later. I'll be back in a mo'!

[and with that, he drops off the Plane. It's a somewhat lengthy wait before he returns, but when he stumbles onto it (and coincidentally, into Remus), he's clutching his ~~security blanket~~ leather jacket. His condition is, er, considerably worse off than before, but he still looks rather pleased with himself] Fantastic! Best run I've had in a good long while.

[Remus takes hold of him instinctively, steadying the Doctor gently] I'd hate to see how you'd look after a bad one. [he'll be assessing your injuries now]

[pfft] Oi, this is nothing. Only a flesh wound. [he's leaning against Remus a bit awkwardly, though, letting him look things over] 'Sides, the running's always fantastic, whether or not I actually manage to get away.

[murmurs as he checks] And now you're worse than Sirius.

You're right though, none seem to be too deep. [pulls out his wand again] Which is good, as I'm hardly a professional.

[amused] I'm guessing he's another one of your friends?

[shrugs a bit, then winces at the movement] I'd say you're doing pretty good so far. 'Course, I'm not the best judge; I've only ever managed a bit of magic myself, and not with a wand.

[wryly] The one most likely to try and outrun giant cat, yes.

[slight shrug] A good soldier needs to be at least a bit of a medic - and my mum's a healer, she's a good influence. [begins murmuring the spell again]

[chuckles, then gives Remus an understanding look] It's true, yeah. And I can see that she is. [he hushes while Remus does his thing, his fingers still clutching his jacket]

[again, his movement are precise but swift, and it's not very long before he's finished] I wonder if they can get infected here...

[straightens and steps back from Remus once he finishes (though he lingers, perhaps, a nanosecond longer than necessary), slipping his jacket on over his tattered jumper] I doubt they'd get infected. And I'll heal soon enough, anyway. Maybe a week or so, you won't see a hint of a scratch.

[gratefully] Thanks though. Again. [and with that he starts digging through his pockets. After several moments of pulling out random crap, he manages to find his stethoscope, and he hands it to Remus!] Care for a listen? Since I went to all that trouble.

[he notices and instantly decides he's imagining it] That's good, then. [stares at him for a moment, before chuckling and accepting] Bit of a waste not to.

[grins, pointing to his chest] You'll find one here...[moves his hand] and here. Go on, have a listen.

[and, after a moment of hesitation, he does

and then he's grinning] That's brilliant.

[laughs] Isn't it? Binary vascular system, respiratory bypass system, regeneration...lots of perks to being a Lord of Time.

[straightens, pulling the stethoscope free] Sounds like it. You probably have your share of weaknesses too, though. [always the ~~cynic~~ realistic one, is Remus]

[he takes the stethoscope from Remus, stuffing it back in his pocket] Sure we do. You could kill me just like you could a human; only difference is, I'll regenerate. 'Course, I'm more resistant to some things, and less resistant to others. [not that he's going to give you the details there]

[he wouldn't either, so he doesn't ask] What happens when you regenerate?

[smiles] It's sort of a Time Lord trick for cheating death. Instead of dying, we turn into a new self. New face, new quirks, same old memories. You'll meet a few of my selves wandering about the Plane.

[he's just going to stare for a moment] That's... Not even magic can cheat death. How many times have you done it?

[chuckles at his expression] Eight times; I'm the Ninth regeneration. My Tenth self is wandering around here somewhere. Three of him, actually. Alternate universes and all that. I've only got a few lives left, though.

How many do you have? [...frowns] If it's not many, you should be careful. [concerned Remus is concerned]

[your concern makes Nine awkward, Remus] Er, we can only regenerate twelve times before dying. That's thirteen lives total. [and he is ignoring that bit about being careful]

[well that's tough, Nine] That's three lives left, then. [his eyes are travelling over those wounds again]

[shrugs] I've managed 900 years, I'm sure I've got another few centuries left, at least.
