[See Doctor. See Doctor run. See Doctor run ~~half-naked~~ on the Plane. Actually he is sort of half-naked, considering his purple jumper is torn nearly to shreds, and his signature leather jacket is nowhere to be seen. Basically, he looks like he got clawed by a large, angry animal. Which he quite possibly has been, if the long, bloody scratch marks are any indication. He stops when he realises he managed to escape (for now), laughing to himself and shaking his head.] Now that's what I call convenient. I ought to try this more often.

[shrewd look] How long can each incarnation live?

[sheepish look] Um. Practically forever, really, until we're mortally wounded and we've got to regenerate. The process is a bit dodgy, though - never know what sort of look you're going to end up with. Or if it's even going to work out at all. [pauses] Sometimes the trauma's worse than others.

...And you've gone through eight in eight hundred years.

[beams] Sort of, yeah. Difficult to avoid it sometimes, with a life like mine. Brilliant, but dangerous.

[reluctantly] I suppose the ones living forever are the ones not doing anything.

[FINALLY someone gets it] 'Course! There's no point in having all this life if I'm going to sit around and waste it. There's history to be seen, planets to save, adventures to be had, etc.

Well, I can't promise anything. But it seems like there are a few people around here that might get upset if I get into too much trouble. [he looks completely baffled by this, as though he can't understand /why/]

It's your own fault for being likeable.

[he looks embarrassed for a moment, but covers it up with some ego] Well, I am impressive. Suppose I can understand that.

[notes that, finds it both intriguing and endearing] You make quite an entrance, too.

[grins] You know what they say about first impressions.

[fond, wistful smile] I do. ...When I first met James, he was defending a Muggleborn on the train to school.

I think I'd like this James bloke.

[grin] I think he'd like you, too.

[his eyes are amused, but there's a hint of loneliness in them] Sounds like you've got a fantastic group of friends in general, if they're both like me. Are either of them wandering around the Plane?

[and the smile dims] No. It would be nice, especially for James - he and his family are under protection, they can't even leave their house. And Sirius and Peter are as busy as I am, with the war. Sirius especially - he knows people will think he has the secret to their location, so he's playing it up, hiding out...keeping them off the trail.

[nods thoughtfully] Who knows, they might turn up eventually. Seems like the people who end up here are the ones that need it the most. [including himself]

...It does. I think I'm - better off, for being here.

I'm glad to hear it. And...you're not the only one. [pauses] I'd been alone for too long, before showing up here. ...Well, no. Suppose there was Adam, but he doesn't count. [bitter? yes.]

[his brow furrows in curiosity - and concern] Why not?
