[Everyone will no doubt notice a new addition to the Plane: a giant Christmas tree. Yes, it’s decorated. Lights, ornaments, candy canes, the works. EVEN TINSEL. Tinsel rocks. Lots of tinsel, really.

There are also quite a few presents stacked under the tree. Each is addressed to a person on the Plane with hilariously appropriate - or possibly inappropriate - wrapping paper.

There is a sign near the tree which reads, “Thank you very much for helping us. Please accept a gift, completely and utterly free. It is our payment. We feel you’ve earned it! Did you know some trees stay green in the winter? But they‘re so prickly.”

At the bottom of the sign a small scribbled note reads, “We tried to bake cookies but even we wouldn’t eat those.”]

[Ianto is suspicious, and so keeps his distance from the tree.]

[Have a Juni! Covered in tinsel and still clutching a photo frame] It didn't kill me.

It hasn't killed you yet, you mean. What did you get, anyway?

[Holds out the frame, which actually holds a picture... In grey, two little girls with a man and a woman standing behind them] It's a photo of my family, I never had one...

[Beams] Have you got your present yet?

How can they be your family if you never had one?

[Shakes his head.] Not yet. I'm not sure I trust the Twins.

No, I mean I never had a photo of them... [Points at the smaller looking girl] Even Beth's on it!

Well, wise... I probably should've thought of that.

Ah. Didn't think it made much sense that you'd never had a family.

Probably. Still, doesn't seem to have caused you any problems just yet.

I certainly didn't just pop into existence.

Well, if in a few hours time I die horribly you can say "I told you so."

I think some species do that. Can't think of any off the top of my head, though.

Not sure I'd feel like it if you did.

Well, not humans to my knowledge.

[Smiles, because that's... Actually kind of sweet by Juni's standards] I'm pretty sure it won't come to that.

Hopefully not, anyway.

I like living.

It's not the tree I'm worried about.

{Of course. It's only Ianto's most favorite person, after all.}

Then what are you worried about? The ornaments?

Oh, yes. That's right. I'm terrified at the prospect of dying at the hands of a bauble.

{She laughs} Now, that sounds like something you would say to me.

I'd probably say it to anyone if they suggested I was scared of a tree ornament.

{Idly} Ah, can I ask you something, by the way?

You just did.

Mm, then another thing.

{Smiles} Why did you look upset when I died?

Does it matter?

I want to know.

I told you I don't like watching people die, didn't I?

Besides, Jack wouldn't have been happy if I'd just let you die. Don't know if he'd ever have forgiven me if I had.
