[Everyone will no doubt notice a new addition to the Plane: a giant Christmas tree. Yes, it’s decorated. Lights, ornaments, candy canes, the works. EVEN TINSEL. Tinsel rocks. Lots of tinsel, really.

There are also quite a few presents stacked under the tree. Each is addressed to a person on the Plane with hilariously appropriate - or possibly inappropriate - wrapping paper.

There is a sign near the tree which reads, “Thank you very much for helping us. Please accept a gift, completely and utterly free. It is our payment. We feel you’ve earned it! Did you know some trees stay green in the winter? But they‘re so prickly.”

At the bottom of the sign a small scribbled note reads, “We tried to bake cookies but even we wouldn’t eat those.”]

[Aniki has never seen a Christmas tree before. So she's somewhat bemused.] What's this, then?

[It's a good thing that the Twins aren't actually here, because lol Hei would be killing them right now. Or trying to.]

Oh, no.

[He sort of watches the tree warily for awhile before he approaches and finds a squarish box wrapped in metallic black-blue paper with lightning bolts all over it. He turns it over a few times before he finally opens it.]

[Inside is a stuffed purple sheep. The exact same one that he got for Xin. He stares at it for quite awhile before he pulls it out.]

[Surprisingly, he smiles a little.]

Oh gosh! It's Christmas? Even though it's almost summer vacation?

[She goes up to the tree and finds, well, a digital present. She opens it up and just about squees.]

These are metatags! Look at them all! Walls, mega-be, oh, this is great!

[She finds a basket with her name on it and gently peels back the tissue. Inside are a few scrolls. She transforms to human so she can undo the scrolls, and when she does, she gasps. On the scrolls are pictures--there's a picture of Issun, a picture of Waka, and a picture of Oki.]

[Crowley has just been staring at the tree with barely concealed disdain. When he notices Az he looks a bit guilty and wanders over to the angel.]

Er, yeah. For several realities it is, anyway. Not certain about yours.

[Misaki is avoiding Hei. She is also not precisely pleased at this--what she sees as a bid for the allegiance of the plane-goers. So here she lurks, quite out of the holiday spirit, glaring up at the tree.]

[And for a half-second the time between the start of Armageddon and the present collapses and it's the same old script, the same old argument.] Nonsense, dear. Maybe the timing is off and it's a bit... well, commercial, but it's the ritual, the symbol of the thing. It's Christmas.

[He closes his eyes, bathing in the light from the tree and the overwhelming memories of love from Christmases past.] I suppose that's a matter we'll agree to disagree on, then.

It saves me the trouble of trying to find you a gift. [Yes, the last bit had a bit of wicked humor in it.]
