[today, Menzies and the Doctor are out in the middle of the Plane. they have a stack of green notebooks on the ground behind them, and they're looking to talk to all the passersby they can]

We've found out more about the monster causing the disappearances--and Grey's gonna take us to it. If you're willing to help, get over 'ere. We need to plan this.

[Ten turns around to grab one of the notebooks. to her:] No, no, no, no. Not like that, Patricia. Like this. [he clears his throat, then holds up a notebook]

Oi, you lot! We've got Grey's notebooks! And we need your help to rescue the people who have been held captive! [never mind they're probably dead by now, but hey, he always tries to be an optimist] We can't wait long, so come on, what are you waiting for?

[then he turns to her, grinning] See? Like that.

[she smirks back at him] Very impressive. But don't get 'em reading the notebooks or we'll never get anywhere.

[she nods] I think Grey wants this thing stopped about as much as we do.

Unfortunately, even in all this--[she gestures at the notebooks]--he didn't give us much of an idea of what we're gonna be up against.

[ Kiki had chosen first to sit on the sidelines as it were, trying to gauge if there was something he could contribute -- too many cooks spoil the broth after all. He approaches Master once he's freed up -- ]

There was really something with those messages, huh? Do you know any of those who are missing?

[And Kay... comes in because interesting?]

You figure out what he is yet? Ray didn't know.

[she shakes her head] But we did figure out who he was. Did I tell you about that story he told us? About Sammy and Charlie and the...whatever the thing is?

[Have a very confused Sherlock... because he really hasn't been here that long.]

Grey's... Notebooks?

[she frowns, not recognising the man] Yeah. Do you know about the disappearances? [that's the easiest place to start, anyway]

[ooc: This is for a plot we've been working on since August. There's more info in the ooc post, but feel free to ask questions!]

[You bet that gets her attention.]

So you got them? Good. Then what do we know now?

[raises an eyebrow. another person in one of those suits of armor? he hopes this one isn't...like that other violet one he ran into previously]

Ohh, hello there! Don't think we've met before but, well, we can do introductions in a mo'. As for what we know, it's a bit of a long story but! It goes like this.

[and Ten proceeds to give her a quick refresher about the voicemails some people got, unwittingly repeating her own back to her at some point. very soon, though, he finally brings it around to the notebooks and how they relate to the voicemails, as well as how Grey--or rather, Charlie--fits into all this. he mentions what happened to bring about their retrieval of the notebooks just to wrap it all up. really, he does go on a very long time and paces a bit while he explains, gesturing wildly at points as he gets more and more into the story--until the stops and adds:]

And now that we've got these, Detective Menzies--[glances at her, noticing she's busy]--and I are going to be leading others to finally defeat whatever has been taking people on our universes and killing them. Grey is the only one who can lead us there.

[Lingering in the distance -- he hasn't forgotten that he's on Menzies' to interview list, but at the same time ... progress on the case is a very good thing.]

[Menzies spots him. she shakes her head, but she can't help a smile. he would be there] Hey, kid! Come over if you're coming.

[considering what happened with Frank, she has a feeling it's better to talk to Conan about this herself before he gets himself mixed up in it anyway]

[One look at the Doctor and Jamie's already made up his own mind on what he wants to do, despite knowing very little of what's going on.]

Aye. So what's the plan, then?

[he smiles fondly, having a feeling Jamie would be interested--and also knowing that no matter what he says, he won't be able to get Jamie to stay home]

Well, once Patricia and I have gathered enough people, we're off to visit Grey's world. It's time to meet that which lurks in the dark, so to speak. Which, well, could be anything. I can name hundreds of creatures that dwell in the dark, and then you've got the ones that simply like a bit of a shade...

[better stop him, Jamie, or he'll keep going...]

[ Mu had told him of the mysterious messages sent over by this "Grey" person and thus the call caught his attention; and even more so, the thought of having lives at stake will not have him standing idly by if he can help it. The teen therefore approaches the two -- ]

Aa-- I'd like to help if you'd allow me-- sir, madam.

[ If he's not talking to Ms Menzies or the Doctor, he can be found mulling things over and piecing ideas together in his head. He might just be pacing to and fro. ]

Hmm? Ah yes! [the young man's attire reminds him of something Mu would wear] I'm the Doctor, and this is Detective Menzies. Have you heard anything of what's gone on?

[vengefulagent]

[while the Doctor (or to him, a tall man in a pinstripe suit) is busy speaking to someone else, Wash approaches Menzies sans weapons. if he hadn't heard either of them yell for attention, all those notebooks would have caught his eye instead.]

[lightly, a touch of sarcasm in his voice] So, in for some light reading, Detective Inspector?

[grip_on_reality]

[she waves a hand] Not really my type. I go in for sci-fi more than horror. Interesting story, though.

What about you? I'm surprised you 'aven't started regular security patrols yet.

[John hasn't really been paying attention to most of the previous plans, because he's been busy with other things, but he definitely pays attention as soon as he hears the words "rescue" and "captive".]

I'll help! Just tell me what to do and where to go, and I'm there.

[...oh, it's another kid. fantastic. Menzies takes a good look at him, wondering if she should be trying to convince him otherwise, but you never really know about people on the Plane. she figures that's a good place to start]

All right. What can you do?

I'll do whatever I can to help.

[Though Gwen doesn't know where to start.]

Do you know how many people are being held captive? Or who?

[Was there a chance that the people who had disappeared from Camelot were still alive somewhere?]

[Menzies nods, remembering Gwen from their previous conversation] Unfortunately, we haven't got any details. But it's a fair bet that this thing is what's been taking the people from our worlds--and it could still have some of them.

You speak of prisoners, Doctor? What do you need? Who are we to fight?

[He should know - he must know! - that she will always fight alongside him. Always.]

[he knows--boy, does he know--and knows he can depend on her especially in situations like this. even...if he's uncertain whether those people are still alive or not]

Leela, you've heard of the people going missing in the different realities, yeah? It's those very same people that we're trying to rescue, but! Even knowing that, and what we've learnt from these notebooks--[he gestures with the one in his hand to the pile behind him]--there's one thing we know for certain: we don't have any idea what this creature might be.

[Dave trots over the moment he hears the news, his strides casual but his expression completely serious.] Count me in. So, what's the battle plan here or are we still waiting on whoever else joins the que.

[she nods to acknowledge him] Waiting for the moment. And then we get to guess at what we might be walking into! [can you hear the excitement in her tone? she really doesn't like going in with almost no information]

You said you, ah, keep the timeline running? 'ave you got any abilities that work outside your timeline?
