[today, Menzies and the Doctor are out in the middle of the Plane. they have a stack of green notebooks on the ground behind them, and they're looking to talk to all the passersby they can]

We've found out more about the monster causing the disappearances--and Grey's gonna take us to it. If you're willing to help, get over 'ere. We need to plan this.

[Ten turns around to grab one of the notebooks. to her:] No, no, no, no. Not like that, Patricia. Like this. [he clears his throat, then holds up a notebook]

Oi, you lot! We've got Grey's notebooks! And we need your help to rescue the people who have been held captive! [never mind they're probably dead by now, but hey, he always tries to be an optimist] We can't wait long, so come on, what are you waiting for?

[then he turns to her, grinning] See? Like that.

[she smirks back at him] Very impressive. But don't get 'em reading the notebooks or we'll never get anywhere.

Something from back then, eh? [scratches his chin as he ponders this. he's acquired so many things since that time--and lost quite a bit as well--so it's a good, long moment before he responds] Blimey Jamie, I can't think of a single thing. Anything that I would have used is either broken or missing--sometimes both. [gives his friend a sheepish look] I'm afraid we're on our own.

Ah, but would it still be missing back when ye were the Doctor I travel with?

[Still, if the Doctor can't think of anything, then maybe there isn't anything that he thinks would actually work.] Aye, well, it was worth a try. Who all else is going, then?

[he knows he's got a point] Tell you what! If you find something--anything!--that you think would help, bring it. [claps him on the shoulder] I trust you.

Well, so far, it's the good detective, myself, you, a couple fellows in full body armor, Leela, Mu and his associate, and whomever else Patricia has spoken to. We've got a good group. [smiles confidently]

Aye, I will, then.

[And he looks just a little bit pleased with himself for coming up with the idea in the first place, even if he hasn't found anything to use yet.]

Full body armor? That'll be useful. Hey...I wonder if there's anything like that back in the TARDIS.

[Uh-oh. Jamie's got that expression on his face again. The one that tends to make the Doctor quickly leave the room. Or, well, his Doctor, anyway.]

Look, Doctor, I've a mind to head back and see what I can come up with. Is there anything else I should know before I do?
