[today, Oliver arrives on the Plane with a bed in tow. not just any bed, but what appears to be a standard-issue hospital bed from the 27th century. he is also wearing a hospital gown, and he has an oxygen tube hooked to his nose and an IV in his arm, although the appartuses the devices were attached to don't seem to have made it to the Plane with him. hopefully he didn't actually need those. interestingly enough, there is no sign of injury on Oliver himself, except for perhaps the IV in his arm. but in addition to all this, Oliver looks terribly startled to have arrived on the Plane]

What the--what is this!? [looks around him in confusion, then gives the IV a suspicious look] I thought I wasn't on anything strong! Why the hell... This was a dream! [turns upward, apparently addressing the stars themselves] A dream, you hear?

I know I was wishing to be anywhere but hospital, but blimey, that didn't mean I wanted to start hallucinating! [sighs] I wonder how long this is gonna last... [props himself up a bit, pulling the tube out of his nose as he turns to take a look around him]

[ooc: This is NOT an experiment. Oliver is suffering from some nasty side effects of chemical exposure during an incident on Gondovan. He currently has amnesia stretching through the last several years of his life. His memory will slowly return, but for now he doesn't remember the Plane or anyone on it, nor how his empathy ability works. he also doesn't remember the details of his life on Gondovan or even the end of his travels with the Doctor. So, enjoy the confused Brummie!]

[he looks up finally as he's speaking and stops, then he nearly drops the letter as he runs over to the hospital bed] Oliver, what happened?! How long have... [he trails off, rather shocked]

[oliverplus]

[turns to the man in surprise] Uh...hello. [a beat] No offense, but shouldn't a figment of my imagination know what happened?

[bit_impossible]

[now that shock turns to, well, slight indignation] 'A figment of your imagination'? I'm nothing of the kind! Well, there are stories and legends, but you know me! [a pause] Don't you? Come on... [his expression falls and to hide his disappointment, he dives for the medical chart on the end of the bed, powering it up]

[oliverplus]

[confused] So...you're someone famous?

[watches him go for the chart] Are you another doctor, then? [which, of course, is referring to the wrong sort of doctor entirely]

[bit_impossible]

[absently, not entirely listening to the first question. he's slipped on his glasses at some point too] Yup, that's me... Another doc--no. [looks up, realising what he's saying now] No, I'm not just any doctor, I'm the Doctor. [he sighs, rolling his eyes a bit] Blimey, lost your memory again, have you? That's going to become a habit if you're not careful.

[oliverplus]

The... [frowns. he has to admit, there's something familiar about him, but why would the Doctor look different in his dreams?] No, you're not. I know the Doctor. [uncertainly] Are you my doctor now?

...what do you mean "again"? [or more like, how does he know that?]

[bit_impossible]

[he frowns, both at the chart and because he's back on that path with Oliver. he was glad to be away from it, but now...] Well, by "again", I mean more things than I did a moment ago. [puts the chart on the bed] Not only did you have a rather nasty allergic reaction to something that in the 27th century would be a very basic, natural and humane way of knocking someone out--well, it's not entirely a surprise considering your body doesn't have the genes or bacterial build-up that your species' descendants would have six centuries later--but you've gone and forgotten about me! Again! [he sounds really offended by that]

[oliverplus]

Hang on a mo'! I mean, sorry, but I don't think I hallucinate people that often.

But...you know about the six centuries?

[bit_impossible]

Yes, I know about the six centuries and how you come from the 21st, but listen. [moves to stand next to the side of the bed as he talks] You're not hallucinating. I'm very much real, see? [pinches Oliver's arm]

[oliverplus]

Ouch! Hey! What was that for?

[bit_impossible]

[he smiles faintly] To prove you're not hallucinating, of course! You see, this place is called the Plane--well, the Astral Plane to be more specific--and yes, those are stars you're seeing swirling around you and on the ground, but they won't hurt you. They're not even in a proper pattern that you and I know of--especially one that I should know of, but it's all very random and always changing.

However. That is something you've already learnt in the past, like how you really do know who I am. [he sighs] Like I said before, though, this has happened before. You do remember the exploding building back on Earth, don't you?

[oliverplus]

[raises an eyebrow] So...you're saying I've been here before?

[looks a bit disturbed by that reference] Yeah. 'Course I do. But how do you... [shakes his head] Is it...really you?

[bit_impossible]

Practically have left a permanent imprint on one of the barstools here.

[ah this part again. he sighs inwardly] It's me, Oliver. Remember what I told you about regeneration?

[oliverplus]

There's a bar in space now?

You mean...changing your face? Yeah, but...I mean, I didn't think you were serious.

[bit_impossible]

[dismissively] Yes, there are several, but that's not the point.

What?! Of course I was serious! Regeneration is a very serious thing for a Time Lord.

[oliverplus]

Well, yeah, in space. But this is like... [gestures at the stars] Space.

So what happened to make you do that? [pauses, then adds because it is obviously very important] And where's your scarf?

[bit_impossible]

Yes, yes, I know what you mean but this--[he jumps up and down a couple times, making sure he's as loud as possible so Oliver can hear the his feet landing on the floor]--is not space. Not in the way you know it.

[he frowns, looking a bit sheepish] Well, half a dozen things, actually, and the scarf, well... I got bored with the scarf.

[oliverplus]

Then what is it?

[scoffs] No way.

[bit_impossible]

I told you already--but since you are in hospital, I'll say it again. This is the Astral Plane. A nexus point for countless multi-verses, which sounds slightly redundant, but trust me, it's not.

Yeah! Plus I unravelled one. Tip to tip. It's nothing but a big ol' ball of string now.

[oliverplus]

[sighs. just as descriptive as ever, Doctor] And?

What, for real? When did you do that?

[bit_impossible]

[ignores that]

After my regeneration from the version of me that you knew originally. Really, is this line of questioning necessary? Once you get your memory back, you'll have one hell of a case of déjà vu!

[oliverplus]

Well, yeah, maybe then. But I don't know now!

[frowns, his expression worried] I mean...just a minute ago you were, you know you. You haven't even told me what happened!

[bit_impossible]

Well, the thing is...I can't tell you what happened. I wasn't there. So I've got to ask you what you remember last. [his hand slips into his pocket, feeling the letter he got from Oliver earlier]

[oliverplus]

[sighs, exasperated] To you, Doctor! Not to me.

I don't remember it at all. They told me somebody attacked me with citroloform and kidnapped the bloke with me, but that's all I know about it. Well, that and some weird things they said that really don't make sense.

[bit_impossible]

[only adds to the exasperation] What do you mean "to me"? I'm not the one who lost my memory.

[he frowns] This fellow wouldn't happen to be from Katsovania II, would he?
