[Gene appears, a sandwich stuffed into his mouth, a cig in his other hand. he may or may not have stolen said food from a suspect currently being held at CID. he'll never admit it if you ask, anyway. at any rate, he's grinning maniacally from behind his sammich] Gene Genie: 1. Scum: nicked.

{Once they're both there, Diva reaches behind the counter to grab two glasses} I'm assuming you like your whiskey straight?

You'd be correct. No sense in ruining the taste by adding shit to it. [quirks a brow] Know a thing or two about bartending, luv?

Oh, not really. {Opens a bottle, pouring him a glass first} I just spend time around people who like to drink, that's all. Amshel especially, though that man, Argiano, we've shared drinks a few times.

[nods, taking the glass appreciatively, and waits for her to set her own up] Hang around in enough pubs and you pick up a thing or two. Comes in handy for police work, as well. [lifts his glass] Don't think I'm gonna go easy on you just 'cause you're a skirt, though, got it?

{Pours herself a glass} I would hope you wouldn't! That wouldn't be fair at all. Though, you certainly have some strange names for women, you know that?

{And done! Diva picks up her glass as she takes a seat with a smile} Cheers, Gene~

I don't go easy on anyone. 's against my principles. And what's so weird about calling you a plod?

[tips his glass to hers and takes his first drink] Cheers, luv.

{Diva takes a drink as well with a half shrug} It's rude, that's all~ A little, anyways.

[gives her a look like 'the hell you talking about, I'm not rude' because Gene is a product of his time and sexism is pretty abundant. he's also a prick]

{Giggles} Just kidding~ Or, mostly. It's still the 70s at "home" for Gene, right?

Well, you and I are from different times, that's all. It's 2006 at my "home". Ah, well, I was awake during that time too, but I was in Vietnam. All the way across the world from Manchester, I'm afraid. {Takes another drink}

[snorts derisively] From the future, huh? 'Hyde' again, then? [shakes his head, finishing off his whisky and pouring himself another] Never got a chance to fight in the war, you know. My City's too important to go traipsing after chinks and other yellow, slanty-eyed gits right now, but I wanted to fight, back when it mattered. Was too young, though. Never got a chance. [shrugs] Ah well. So you were in 'nam? Which side?

It's not the future for me, but I don't know what you mean by "Hyde".

The chinks and slanty-eyed gits, as you call them. I spent 1972 away from all the fighting, but 73 and 74, I had a false name and was listed as a combatant. That man...ah...Nguyễn Văn Thiệu, he thought it would be better for me to be more involved instead of just being a figurehead. I didn't much care for him. People in that kind of power...{Sigh} I'm not sure, they're not very nice people. Ah, but the soldiers were nice enough! It seemed like they just wanted to protect their home more than anything.

Those soldiers were still fighting for communism. They deserved to have their homes burned to the ground.

The thing about that, I can only stay awake for three years at a time. Then after that I have to sleep for thirty before I can wake up again. So things like that, I don't hear about them until later. I was there for the events leading up to the Russian Revolution, and Grigori was blamed for the Imperial family's fall, but I was asleep by the time it actually happened.

[is well onto his third glass of whisky] That's a long nap, there, luv. Why so long?
