[Gene appears, a sandwich stuffed into his mouth, a cig in his other hand. he may or may not have stolen said food from a suspect currently being held at CID. he'll never admit it if you ask, anyway. at any rate, he's grinning maniacally from behind his sammich] Gene Genie: 1. Scum: nicked.

{She finishes off her glass, pouring herself another as well.} But that's a book, right? Jekyll and Hyde, I think it is?

...Communism? What's that?

Then what?

{Shakes her head} The only Russia I know is the one ruled by the Imperial family.

Fine~

Oh, I know. Not since...1917 or so, right? I haven't been to Russia since the Romanov family fell.

The thing about that, I can only stay awake for three years at a time. Then after that I have to sleep for thirty before I can wake up again. So things like that, I don't hear about them until later. I was there for the events leading up to the Russian Revolution, and Grigori was blamed for the Imperial family's fall, but I was asleep by the time it actually happened.

{Diva is just taking her time~} No idea. Ever since Amshel became my Chevalier...it's been like that. There's really no explanation why it happens at all~

Well...They're kind of like my bodyguards. It started out with Amshel...Just because I didn't know anything about the world outside my tower, so I really wanted Amshel to be by my side rather than me be alone.

But then "one more" turned into three or four. I can tell Amshel really likes having the power of my blood, like my other Chevalier, so...They started out as bodyguards, but it changed more into a secret way for any person to gain power. My blood can bring the dead and dying back to life, so it's a last resort offered to those people usually. {She takes a drink again, setting the glass back down to run her finger over its rim thoughtfully}

Chevalier are supposed to live for their Queen, but it's more like they live for themselves. They're all really powerful and influential people now. But they don't really care about me as anything other than the source of their power, probably~

That would be...because...{So she takes the chance to refill her glass} I don't really have anyone else. I want them to stay with me, since...Well, I don't want to be alone at all.

Is it? Most people I tell that too think I'm strange for not being able to leave them. But I need them, and they need me, even if it's for completely different reasons.

{That makes her lips purse into a mischievious smile} Ne, you think so? I'd be lying to say that I don't want a man by my side, but my Chevalier, lovers or not, we don't share quite that kind of bond.

Though, if anything, that would be considered offensive. {But Diva just smiles and takes another drink}

...It's not quite that easy. But...I'd really like that! It'd be...really wonderful. But there's the problem that I'd definitely outlive any person I fell in love with unless they became my Chevalier too. But I've never fallen in love...{Innocently} Has Gene?

It's a...a...{Diva pauses, since she doesn't know the word} When you make a really general opinion of people...It's that. Saying the every woman needs a man, well, that's not true. I've met several women who would be really angry with you for saying that, actually! But I don't mind it so much. I've heard worse, so it doesn't bother me~

I guess not. But what I read in books about it, that doesn't seem realistic. {Thoughtfully} And when I ask people, they can never explain it in a way that makes sense. Or they just get embarrassed and change the subject.

Do you care how other people feel, then? I mean, other than women.

Well...I'm more curious what I feels like to love someone or be loved by someone.

That makes sense, then. That's more like...selective caring, I guess.
