{Diva hops onto the Astral Plane, or, at least it looks like her. The hair and eyes are the same, but everything else is completely different. With a much more boyish frame, a younger face, and even being smaller in general, it seemed as if she was wearing someone else's skin.}

Ne, that girl, she must have been bad luck. After all, you brought sister with you into New York! How sad~
But it's kind of nice to see Saya again, even if she's here to kill me and my Chevalier. Ah, last time we saw each other was on that boat, after all. She's probably still angry about that.

{Her hands release what she was holding, and she scatters what seems like glittering, blood red rubies on the invisible ground. Diva crouches down to pick one up again, holding it in between her fingers with a decidedly blank expression.}

But she didn't hesitate this time. It makes sense she'd kill my Chevalier first, but...Well, I guess Karl died the way he wanted to. Ne, but it's getting more dangerous to stay at "home". Would anyone care if I just stayed here for a while? It's really getting to be troublesome to stay at home, even with my Chevalier to protect me. If she can't find me, after all, maybe sister will leave.

No, getting experimented on would be... really bad. But there has to be a way... Did you have any Chevalier before Amshel?

[copper's wages aren't that high, even for a senior officer, and half of those names go right over the working-class DI's head] Uh... I meant, more, styles... Diva, I'm not... [wipes his hand down his face, somewhat embarassed]

No. Amshel was the first.

Oh, those are too expensive? {Huh, go figure} Well...I like blues. But anything that Sam would give would be really beautiful, I bet. Ne, it's a gift, after all, so it'd be twice as pretty. Ah, but if it were clothes...I'd guess you'd need to know that.{Pause}

My measurements are 93-58-90. Centimeters, of course.

Does your sister go through that cycle, too?

Uhm, thanks. [wipes at his face again] So blues, clothing, jewellery... anything else?

[madamemoiselle]

She does! Ah, but sister only has one Chevalier. She lost her memories this time we were awake, actually, but I helped her remember.

...You really don't need to worry about it.

[didorothy]

So she probably doesn't have any idea how to get out of it, if she goes through it, too.

Well, I want to worry about it. So I will.

[madamemoiselle]

Right...I think..Well, if she did, Saya definitely wouldn't go to sleep. She might as well be human, after all. She...gets along with them better than I do, I guess.

{And her hands are back to her face again as she looks down}

You're going to learn how to get on with us better, though, right? I think you can. You're doing pretty well with me.

[he smiles, because that's really sweet]

...I hope so! It just changes a lot in between the times I wake up, so...Well, it's hard to change suddenly like that. Like when I woke up during the end of 1918, everyone said the way I talked was old fashioned.

{It is not, it's embarrassing! But she pulls her hands away when she feels her face cool down. Gifts, sure, those are normal, but gifts that she didn't ask for, that's unheard of.}

I imagine it would be. A lot more changes in thirty years than I'd realised before.

[madamemoiselle]

Ah, it's always surprising. One time it could be that I'm supposed to be subservient and always gentle, and then the next time, standing up for myself is preferable. Not to mention all the new expressions...But it's always the hardest part, more than anything, having to learn the language of wherever my Chevalier brought me.

[didorothy]

You don't--of course you don't. [laughs somewhat awkwardly] I just assumed you'd know the language of wherever you were, but that doesn't really make any sense.

[madamemoiselle]

{Shakes her head with a smile} Ne, that'd mean I was really smart, wouldn't it? I have to learn it like everyone else, but...Well, with nothing else to do and being in a place where they only speak that language, you learn quickly. Especially in Vietnam, where...Well, that's really only the language that people know. It's not like Europe where most people know at least two languages.

What languages do you know?

[madamemoiselle]

Well, French is my first language, but I'm fluent in English, obviously, Italian, Vietnamese, German, Russian, Latin, Spanish, and I can get by with Portuguese and Mandarin Chinese.

[didorothy]

That's a wealth of languages. Granted, people on the continent seem to know more languages than the average Brit, but that's pretty impressive regardless.

[madamemoiselle]

Well, when you travel as much as I do, it's helpful. Ne, it's really bad though sometimes they'll get all jumbled up. Like one word in one language is similar to to another word in another language, but they mean really different things. Or they mean...vulgar things, which is even worse.

[didorothy]

The last one would be terrible, I'd imagine.

I remember I had multi-lingual teacher in grammar school who once switched through three languages to tell a student to fetch some supplies. It wasn't a language class, either.

[madamemoiselle]

It really is...It seems silly that the word shower in French would mean something crude in English. That was really embarrassing, actually.

Ah, that's why, then. It's easy to forget words. Like English is alright since I use it a lot, but in other ones, I forget the names of simple things like pencil or bread. Or it's always weird things.

[didorothy]

Sh-- [a beat as he translates] Oh. That must've been awful.

I always wanted to learn anothre language. I should've picked up a language class, but. [shrugs] Wasted youth and all.

[madamemoiselle]

{Nods} It was really confusing, since I didn't know enough German then to talk to that person and try and explain it. I think he was really offended. But Solomon told me later, when I asked, at least.

Ah, it's not too late to learn. You should learn French. It's the most beautiful of any of the languages~ Oh, but Latin is very handy with any Romance language. Amshel made me learn that when we were still traveling around Paulliac, since that way I could at least understand some parts of what people might be saying.

Still unfortunate.

[half-smiles] I don't know if I'd have the time back in my reality to French. Paulliac, that's in France?

[madamemoiselle]

It's near Bordeaux. Not too far, but far enough to not be called Bordeaux wine. It's where Joel's chateau is. Well, was. So I guess you could say it's my hometown, though I don't have many attachments to it. Ne, but the area around Bordeaux and Paulliac, it's absolutely gorgeous. Especially when the grapevines are all full and heavy and ready to be picked. I spent my time in that area after Amshel became my Chevalier, and we just made our way towards Russia, whether I was awake or not.

[didorothy]

Why were you moving towards Russia? I know you were there for the fall of the Imperial family, but I wouldn't think you'd have known that as many years before.

[madamemoiselle]

Amshel wanted to leave Paulliac, I think. It was his home, after all. I think...I think he mentioned that he had a friend there, but I couldn't be sure. I haven't even thought of why since...Well, since we were on our way.
