[Kay once again steps out onto the Plane and is covered in... You know what? It's slimy, it's sort of greenish yellow, it's stringy and trickly, and it looks pretty unpleasant. He's so busy shaking off his hand and trying to wipe off his big shiny brightly lit gun that he doesn't notice where he is for a moment.] Shows me for forgetting my damn handkerchief.

[As if one little hanky would take care of the horrors that have happened here. Oh well. And then he looks up.

Eyebrow raise.]

...Huh.

[Not much to say about that. Other than this is disgusting and he'll have to change suits very soon.]

Oh, this thing? [Like the gun is just an old coat pulled out of the closet. But secretly a much loved one.] I'm a protection officer. Came with the job. [He taps a few buttons and the lighting goes down.

He then looks at the towel, looks at Eithan, looks at the towel, gives Eithan another questioning look as if to say, You want this or should I toss it?]

[Eithan, in return, makes a face and shakes his head. He waves a hand dismissively. “Just toss it.” Then, his attention goes back to the gun.]

Protection officer... geez. So you’re like some sort of secret service sort of guy in your world? That’s pretty awesome.

[most_feared]

Something like that. [He nodded.] The suit must have given me away. [And he held his finger up a moment.]

Be right back then. [And he disappeared, but came back considerably more clean and minus one enormous gun.]

Sorry, had to file a report. [The other part that comes with the giant guns.]

[That wins a grin out of Eithan.] Now you're just showing off. Saved the day, then? Congrats. From what? [Beat] Or is that back to I-don't-wanna-know?

[Okay, the "save the day" thing makes him smile a little bit. He's used to it being a thankless job that no one remembers. He doesn't even really know how to react to even a little consideration. But, there it is, a little break in the line-facing.]

It's back to not wanna know. You ever have anything big to worry about where you come from?

[He's presuming it's a different universe than his.]

Anything big? [He blinks, ponders that for a bit...] Like, metaphorically or no? I mean, there’s the Order. They’re big. And they need to be dealt with.

Big metaphorically or literally. Heard once there were dragons that came around the Plane, but never ran into one myself. [Seemed like an interesting idea though.]

[punkblaze]

Oh. Yeah, we have some dragons, too. But everyone knows not to go fuckin’ with ‘em, unless they’re stupid. Every once in a while, though... [Shrug] There’s always someone, you know? And then the dragon gets pissed, chases ‘em into the city... [He rolls his eyes.]

So there aren’t dragons in your world? Huh. What big things do you deal with, then? That... are out of the don't-wanna-know range, I guess.

People. I deal with people. Of various shapes, races, species, sizes, ages, and criminal behaviors. [Just frequently not humans, those tended to not be his jurisdiction unless they were bothering the immigrants.]

Sounds like your dragons aren't the personable type.

[punkblaze]

That's a lot of people to deal with. [Snort] Bet it's rarely dull, though.

Yeah, no, not exactly. I mean, some breeds are better than others. Some of the smaller ones can even be pets, you know? But the general rule is the bigger it is, the meaner it is, so stay away.

[most_feared]

[He now wonders what brand of kibble you buy for a dragon.] I know plenty o' guys with the size equals might idea. It's a pain in the ass. [And sadly, too much exposure to it is what made him the man that he is today.]

Really is, 'cause it's not always true. Though sometimes? That can work to your advantage, too. [Bit of a smirk -- clearly, Eithan would know, scrawny-looking thing that he is.]

I think quite a few weapons and fighting styles were based off that concept, because a damn lot of people get pissed off over it.

But they're not that up there in the intelligence levels where you're from? [He'd mentioned pets, so he's assuming...]

Probably. No one likes gettin’ their ass kicked, so they had to come up with a way to overpower the big guys.

Well, some are pretty smart, but not like... people-smart. [beat] Though there’s this one religion in my world that follows a dragon-god that supposedly lives in the mountains and can speak. I mean, some of ‘em swear they’ve heard it speakin’, too. [shrug] Not my religion though.

[most_feared]

I noticed a lot of religious people tend to hear things speaking that don't usually do so. Seems to be a universal constant.

[And more often than not, in his experience, that thing that they hear is not exactly what they think they hear.]

Yeah, no, I even worry about some people in my own religion. There are some, uh, nutcases. To put it nice. Talkin' to trees, or the wind, or whatever...

Oh. I'm Eithan, by the way. Eithan Paine. [small grin!] Nice to meet you.

I've met some real talkative trees.

[And Eithan gets a quick grin of greeting. It's fleeting, but hey, it's there.] I'm Agent K. "K" works just fine.
