001 - Cy for Sign Me Up

[A long-haired gray tabby appears on the plane. At first glance, she looks like a kitten; she’s stubby and clumsy and small. Closer inspection, however, reveals her to be an adult cat who is stubby and clumsy and small. The tabby markings swoop down her sides like gray and black flames. She has four white socks and a white spot on her chin, a pink nose and intense yellow eyes.

And, mostly hidden by her long fur, something metal glints at the crown of her head.

She doesn’t seem to notice the change in venue; she’s busy with a Very Important Task. That is, stripping to pieces and eating a ball of what appears to be tin foil and duct tape, smeared with gasoline and engine grease.]

Hmm~? Are you, perhaps, one of Chen's friends? [ Yuyuko kneels and smiles at the little cat. ]

[Cy looks up, a bit of tin foil dangling from the side of her mouth.] Chen, yen, perfect ten. Never heard of 'im.

[ She chuckles ] I see~.

What is it you're eating, little one?

[She tries to lick the tin foil into her mouth, but instead gets it stuck to her tongue, where it dangles while she makes faces.]

It's yesterday's leftovers for today's scavengers, that's the way and always is.

Leftovers sometimes taste better than the original meal, though~.

[ She reaches over and helps her with the foil, seemingly unaffected by the fact that the cat is eating tin foil. ]

[She starts up her food-processor purr.] See, now, this one gets the message.

[ Yuyuko sets down her fan with with a giggle. ]

May I pet you, little one?

Sure, Madame Du Prue. [She dances sideways up to Yuyuko.] I'm Cy. Who're you?

[ Yuyuko strokes her gently and scratches behind her ears. ]

My name is Yuyuko. Pleased to meet you, Cy~.

You-you-too, Madame. [Purr purr purr. She rubs against Yuyuko, totally ignoring the fact that yes, she is filthy. I mean, just think about what she was eating.]

[ Yuyuko notices how dirty the cat is, but continues petting her anyway. She has other robes back home. ]

Where are you from, then~? A world with talking cats?

Everything talks in somebody's world, Madame. [Streeeetch. She decides to try and climb into Yuyuko's lap.] What about you! You come from a world with talking humans. Now that's a thing, that is.

I suppose you are right, unless there is a silent world out there, hmm? That would be quite different~. [ She allows Cy to crawl into her lap and continues to stroke her as she does so. ] I come from a world with talking humans, talking demons, and talking ghosts. There are spirits of the seasons and gods as well. They talk a bit too much~.
