christmas time is here again

[There is a sign pointing towards the ballroom, which has been decked out for Christmas. There is a tree waiting to be decorated. There is a table with cookies and a Christmas cake and snacks and things. There is a buffet line for dinner and a bar set up with champagne and eggnog and various drinks - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. There are paper cut out snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. There is mistletoe to be found in various spots. Karaoke in one corner. Sawako brought along her kitchen from home for the occasion to set up a Christmas cookie making station, too. There's music and gifts and food and drinks and mistletoe. What else could anyone want?]

[In a darker corner some mysterious figure brought along a Festivus Pole, too. There's room for wrestling for the Feats of Strength and a table set up so people can gather around for the Airing of the Grievances. Sawako has no idea where these things came from, but she's not about to infringe on someone's effort to celebrate the holidays.]

[as Oliver has been living on the Plane, his gift is wrapped in simple brown paper that he found...who knows where. inside is a book that, considering children take charge and it's a lot about family, is something he hopes Isaac would enjoy--and might make him relax for a bit]

[Firesong has very carefully carried his gift to the appointed place. It's a set of three rather large, brightly glowing crystals that have a few silver wires wrapped artistically around them. The light coming from the crystal has a faint golden tint, and is bright enough to read by. They are also floating an inch or so off the ground and currently are held together by an elaborately tied red ribbon that has been decorated with several of Aya's iridescent white feathers.]

[Box doesn't have a box. Pun intended. No, he has a bigger festive bag actually. In it are a lot of things, so he almost feels like Santa. Since he didn't have an idea of what to get for the girl he had never seen before, he asked the DEEP members about it. It resulted that he ended up with a lot of presents to give: a can of energy drinks from Akira, pair of white 'nekomimi (http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs27/f/2009/251/6/1/Neko_ears_by_chii00.jpg)' with bells (for the occasion) from Daruma, Izumi suggested a 16Gbyte pendrive too. In pink. So it's in the bag too, and Taiko threw in a music box playing the music of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq2Hicsy4xg). Yes that is an ero-game's opening. While Box's suggestion was soap, shampoo and shower creme from LUSH (http://www.lush.com/), so he put those in the bag too.]

[an ornately wrapped gift is set down for Shun. The boxes and ribbons and tinsel and wrapping are all very expensive. In fact, they probably cost at least twenty times more than the contents of the packages. When Shun does open his gifts he'll find a supply of instant coffee and ramen noodles.]

[the Doctor, who is wearing a rather long Father Christmas hat, sets a large garishly wrapped box down as close to the tree as he can get it and then backs up a ways to wait for his gift's recipient. tied to the big, red bow set atop the box is a tag that reads "For Ai" and has a little smiley face drawn underneath the words. within are two gifts (because he had no idea what to get a child, but since he's met Ai before, he figured he ought to give her something he would've felt was useful.)

so! one gift, that is also wrapped, looks like a child-sized briefcase and is thin and light, however within the impossibly spacious interior are all sorts of scientific instruments (micro and nanoscopes, Bunsen burners--the sort of things any 23rd century field scientist would need when away from the lab), equipment (test tubes, beakers, etc) and your basic set of solutions and chemicals that could be dangerous if spilled altogether, but everything is of a safe radiation level for humans (the Doctor has made sure of this.)

the other gift, however, is not wrapped, but has a note that reads:

"Harriet insisted.

and attached to the note is ridiculously soft teddy bear that is about 25cm in height.]
