[today, Oliver arrives on the Plane with a bed in tow. not just any bed, but what appears to be a standard-issue hospital bed from the 27th century. he is also wearing a hospital gown, and he has an oxygen tube hooked to his nose and an IV in his arm, although the appartuses the devices were attached to don't seem to have made it to the Plane with him. hopefully he didn't actually need those. interestingly enough, there is no sign of injury on Oliver himself, except for perhaps the IV in his arm. but in addition to all this, Oliver looks terribly startled to have arrived on the Plane]

What the--what is this!? [looks around him in confusion, then gives the IV a suspicious look] I thought I wasn't on anything strong! Why the hell... This was a dream! [turns upward, apparently addressing the stars themselves] A dream, you hear?

I know I was wishing to be anywhere but hospital, but blimey, that didn't mean I wanted to start hallucinating! [sighs] I wonder how long this is gonna last... [props himself up a bit, pulling the tube out of his nose as he turns to take a look around him]

[ooc: This is NOT an experiment. Oliver is suffering from some nasty side effects of chemical exposure during an incident on Gondovan. He currently has amnesia stretching through the last several years of his life. His memory will slowly return, but for now he doesn't remember the Plane or anyone on it, nor how his empathy ability works. he also doesn't remember the details of his life on Gondovan or even the end of his travels with the Doctor. So, enjoy the confused Brummie!]

Uh...no. [looks away, the worry and confusion making him uncomfortable, though he doesn't understand the source] I mean, I had a dream about it, yeah, which I guess is why I'm imagining it now.

Everyone who can come here dreams of it. It may be difficult to believe, but this place is very real.

[frowns] So I'm in space for real, then? Not hospital? Or am I like...only here in my mind?

What do you mean "who can come here"?

Not quite Space. This is the Astral Plane.

[He pokes Oliver in the leg] and you're here in body as well. If you wish to return, you need only think about it.

People come and go from here to all manner of different timelines and universes. There seems to no rhyme nor reason to those of us who can.

You can leave by thinking about it? For real?

So, I could come back, then. If I wanted to?

But I think I'll stay here for now. Not sure how the nurses would react to a hospital bed disappearing and coming back, really!

They won't have noticed. While you're here, time doesn't pass at home.

[The sense of worry is somewhat faded, but still present]

[scoffs] What, really? [frowns, still feeling that worry as he looks at Mu] Then I guess I could give it a go...

[and he does, in fact, disappear from the Plane. and reappear a moment later, eyes wide] Whoa!

[Mu's smile is a little bit more genuine when he comes back] You see?

Yeah, but...wow!

It can be quite the experience.

[Behind the smile there's...something. half-remembered conversations about the nature of memory and it's loss. Mu's smile turns a bit sad]

I know you don't remember what happened, but those who are caring for you - do they think this was deliberate, or a random act?

[oliverplus]

[looks a bit sheepish, putting a hand behind his head] I got attacked, actually. Not sure why. They kidnapped the other bloke, so I guess I wasn't the one they wanted.

[lamb_of_gold]

[Collateral, then. There's a tiny flare of anger, but it settles. Nevertheless, Mu looks a tad grim.] I see. And still you lost memory?

[oliverplus]

Yeah... [frowns because this part bothers him too] The hospital staff says I should've just been knocked out. That's what citroloform--the stuff they used--does. But I lost my memory, too. They told me I must have an allergy, but I think that's their way of saying they don't know.

[trying to sound optimistic] But it's not the first time I've lost my memory, so I'm sure I'll get it back again.

[lamb_of_gold]

It must be a severe allergy for the symptoms to include memory loss.

Let us hope so.

[oliverplus]

[shrugs, uncomfortable] They said there was something funny with my blood test, too. I don't know. They didn't really want to tell me anything.

So, uh... [a bit awkward to say in the middle of the conversation, but better than not at all] I take it we know each other?

[lamb_of_gold]

Hn.

We do. I count you among my friends.

[oliverplus]

Then you must be mine, too.

[shifts uncomfortably] So, I know this sounds stupid, but...what's your name?

[lamb_of_gold]

I can't say to know your feelings on the matter, but I would hope so.

[oliverplus]

Well, nice to meet you--again--Mu! Thanks for helping me out. This is all...[looks around him again]...very weird.

[lamb_of_gold]

I'd imagine so. Is there anything I can get you?

[oliverplus]

No. Well. Maybe some real clothes... Can you get clothes in space?

[lamb_of_gold]

[Mu has to think about that] There are some costumes in the ballroom, but I doubt that's quite what you had in mind. I can lend you a set of mine, if you don't mind something warm.

[oliverplus]

[looks at how Mu's dressed and can't help a wry smile] If Chloe could only see me...

No, that'd be great, really. If it's not too much trouble.
