[today, Oliver arrives on the Plane with a bed in tow. not just any bed, but what appears to be a standard-issue hospital bed from the 27th century. he is also wearing a hospital gown, and he has an oxygen tube hooked to his nose and an IV in his arm, although the appartuses the devices were attached to don't seem to have made it to the Plane with him. hopefully he didn't actually need those. interestingly enough, there is no sign of injury on Oliver himself, except for perhaps the IV in his arm. but in addition to all this, Oliver looks terribly startled to have arrived on the Plane]
What the--what is this!? [looks around him in confusion, then gives the IV a suspicious look] I thought I wasn't on anything strong! Why the hell... This was a dream! [turns upward, apparently addressing the stars themselves] A dream, you hear?
I know I was wishing to be anywhere but hospital, but blimey, that didn't mean I wanted to start hallucinating! [sighs] I wonder how long this is gonna last... [props himself up a bit, pulling the tube out of his nose as he turns to take a look around him]
[ooc: This is NOT an experiment. Oliver is suffering from some nasty side effects of chemical exposure during an incident on Gondovan. He currently has amnesia stretching through the last several years of his life. His memory will slowly return, but for now he doesn't remember the Plane or anyone on it, nor how his empathy ability works. he also doesn't remember the details of his life on Gondovan or even the end of his travels with the Doctor. So, enjoy the confused Brummie!]

No, that'd be great, really. If it's not too much trouble.

[Mu vanishes and is gone about 15 minutes, reappering with some plain wool trousers, a long sleeved shirt and a chuba; a Tibetan jacket. It's lined with fluffy stuff. These, he hands to Oliver. They might be a bit big, but not unwearably so.]
The Plane can get chilly, sometimes.

[winces as he pulls the IV out of his arm, putting pressure over the spot for a moment. then he pulls his hand away--and stops. he stares in shockc at the little spot of black blood bubbling up from where the IV was stuck in] What the hell?

[Mu sighs, placing his hand gently over the hole, sealing it shut with a bare spark of Cosmo.]
Dress, and I will explain further.

Okay... [frowns, wishing Mu would explain now, but Oliver is eager to get out of the hospital gown. grabs the trousers, sliding those on first and then undoing the gown, glancing at Mu all the while as if trying to remind him that he'd better explain. if Mu is watching, he'll see the many scars over Oliver's chest and back before Oliver pulls on the shirt, then the jacket]
Okay, so...you know what that was?

When people on this Plane die, they don't stay dead. That substance you saw is what replaces the blood of those who've come back.

You refused to fight, actually. You even brought a gun, in case your opponent was unable or unwilling to fight against you as well.

I...wanted to die? Why would... [shakes his head again, confused] Did I know I'd become...whatever I am now? God, I must be some sort of zombie or something... This is...this can't be real. People don't die and come back!

So I'm dead now?
no subject
Quite the contrary. You're very much alive. You've simply been resurrected.

I'm unclear as to they whys of the death matches, but I think they were started to give power to the machine that creates this place.
