[Oliver is in the library today, seated at a table with several stacks of books around him. most of the spines have to do with a variety of mythologies or with the end of the world--or the universe or time, depending on what society the book is from. he has a large volume open in front of him and is paging quickly through it, skimming for...something. unfortunately, it's an old book and he's creating a bit of a dust screen in his haste]

Weber said Pestilence, and if that rain held some sort of disease, maybe... But what does that have to do with the forcefield? Is it all even relate- [coughs, pausing in his research to sit back a bit and wave a hand in front of him in an attempt to dissipate some dust. he realises someone else is there then and blinks] Oh! Hey, I didn't--[cough]--see you there. [tries to smile through one more cough. waves his hand again; dust is so annoying]

That's probably not good for you... [stands, reaching out tentatively to hopefully move the little guy to safety]

[polarization]

[ Static sneezes some of the dust away, letting out a slight zzzap, then stands and clings to Oliver's hand. Meanwhile, its owner comes around the corner, seemingly following the little thing's overenthusiastic spells, and rolls his eyes when he sees where it's gotten off to. ]

[oliverplus]

Whoa, careful there! [picks Static up gently, carrying him away from the table--and then he spots Sefton] Hey! There you are. [smiles cheerfully in greeting]

[polarization]

... hi.

[ Static chitters as usual, coughing once or twice more, before it tries to climb up Oliver's arm. ]

[oliverplus]

How's it goi--hey, where are you off to!? [he doesn't try to stop Static, just watches him for now, amused]

[polarization]

Chu! Chuchuchu... [ It gets to Oliver's shoulder, then grabs a hold of his ear... and tries climbing onto his head. Sefton remains silent, simply watching from his place at the end of the bookcase. ]

[oliverplus]

[laughing] Where are you going!? Sefton, what's he trying to do?

[polarization]

[ He pulls back a little at being addressed, leans against the case. ]

... He likes sitting on my head.

[oliverplus]

[still laughing] So he's trying to get on mine?

I figured he'd be with you! Have you named him yet?

[polarization]

[ He nods. ]

Went with Static.

[oliverplus]

Static! That's a good name.

So. [don't think he didn't notice that you didn't answer] How's it going? [eyes him--not purposefully to use his ability but just because Sefton makes him suspicious, being as closed as he is]

[polarization]

[ He's not closed, so much as... ... okay, he's closed. But he hasn't really approached anybody for a month, can you blame him? Right now, he's dissatisfied, a little scared, a dash of loneliness, some boredom and amusement at Static—and then he looks away. ]

What d'you think?

[oliverplus]

[frowns worriedly] Nobody's been able to help yet?

[polarization]

[ He's quiet for a moment, then shakes his head. Static has since gotten on top of Oliver's head and simply plopped down onto its belly. Comfy. ]

[oliverplus]

[winces. he doesn't even want to think about how long it's been. he wishes he'd checked up on Sefton sooner, but now he can't let this go any longer than it already has] All right. Then...[beware, Oliver is entering determined!mode]...you don't know where you are, but what do you know about it?

[polarization]

I... I don't— [ Sefton's brows furrow. He doesn't look at Oliver, remembering his ability, but he seems to be paying a little more attention to him. ]

Not a lot. It's... been a while since I've gone back. [ Two months actually. But he doesn't want to think of that. ]

[oliverplus]

[he was afraid Sefton would be like this the next time he talked to him, but he's not going to give up over it] Then what do you remember? Anything could help us figure a way out.

[polarization]

[ Like what, a reticent teenager? ]

It... s' some kinda hospital or something.

[oliverplus]

[and avoiding his gaze! Oliver's paranoid about making people do that]

A hospital? [that sounds odd for a kidnapping. but it could be a good thing!] [hopefully] You don't think if you got out of the room, you could get help?

[polarization]

[ He's trying to help by doing that, though! ]

... No?

[oliverplus]

[frowns] What else is keeping you there?

[polarization]

[ Mutters, ] The straps for one.

[ It's not exactly an obstacle anymore, but he can't help be nervous of it. What it means they're willing to do. ]

[oliverplus]

[that isn't what he meant, but he's still not happy to hear about it] I could get you a razor blade or something else sharp for that. That part'd be easy.

[polarization]

No, they're... gone. I mean. I'm out've 'em.

[oliverplus]

[blinks] You are? Okay, that's a start! What else?
