[Oliver is in the library today, seated at a table with several stacks of books around him. most of the spines have to do with a variety of mythologies or with the end of the world--or the universe or time, depending on what society the book is from. he has a large volume open in front of him and is paging quickly through it, skimming for...something. unfortunately, it's an old book and he's creating a bit of a dust screen in his haste]

Weber said Pestilence, and if that rain held some sort of disease, maybe... But what does that have to do with the forcefield? Is it all even relate- [coughs, pausing in his research to sit back a bit and wave a hand in front of him in an attempt to dissipate some dust. he realises someone else is there then and blinks] Oh! Hey, I didn't--[cough]--see you there. [tries to smile through one more cough. waves his hand again; dust is so annoying]

I... I don't— [ Sefton's brows furrow. He doesn't look at Oliver, remembering his ability, but he seems to be paying a little more attention to him. ]

Not a lot. It's... been a while since I've gone back. [ Two months actually. But he doesn't want to think of that. ]

[oliverplus]

[he was afraid Sefton would be like this the next time he talked to him, but he's not going to give up over it] Then what do you remember? Anything could help us figure a way out.

[polarization]

[ Like what, a reticent teenager? ]

It... s' some kinda hospital or something.

[oliverplus]

[and avoiding his gaze! Oliver's paranoid about making people do that]

A hospital? [that sounds odd for a kidnapping. but it could be a good thing!] [hopefully] You don't think if you got out of the room, you could get help?

[polarization]

[ He's trying to help by doing that, though! ]

... No?

[oliverplus]

[frowns] What else is keeping you there?

[polarization]

[ Mutters, ] The straps for one.

[ It's not exactly an obstacle anymore, but he can't help be nervous of it. What it means they're willing to do. ]

[oliverplus]

[that isn't what he meant, but he's still not happy to hear about it] I could get you a razor blade or something else sharp for that. That part'd be easy.

[polarization]

No, they're... gone. I mean. I'm out've 'em.

[oliverplus]

[blinks] You are? Okay, that's a start! What else?

[polarization]

[oliverplus]

What else is keeping you there? You're free to move around, right?

[polarization]

... I dunno. Think I saw a camera, 'n... s' not like the place's abandoned or something.

[oliverplus]

But you've been kidnapped! If you could find somebody else, they should help you.

[polarization]

'less they're just gonna put me back in there. [ So paranoid, Sefton! ]

[oliverplus]

[this makes no sense to him] But...why?

[polarization]

[ He blinks, turning his confused gaze to Oliver before he catches himself and looks away again. ]

What d'you mean, why?

[oliverplus]

[stares] You've been kidnapped! People would care!

...why don't you think they would?

[polarization]

[ His eyes narrow a bit, still confused. ]

Didn't say that. Just doubt anybody'd wanna help me there.

[oliverplus]

[frowns] It's a hospital, isn't it?

[polarization]

I dunno. Maybe.

[oliverplus]

All right, so you can't count on that. You'd have to get out without them realising it was you... [thinks about that] I bet we could get clothes for you to change into easy enough. And...you said there's a camera?

[polarization]

[ He nods, a little. (Static has begun to snore from atop Oliver's head.) ]

Y'think?

[oliverplus]

[reaches up absently to make sure Static is steady]

Well, that's not the worst thing! I mean, it's only the 21st century there. I bet I could get something to do something about the camera. [frowns thoughtfully]

[polarization]

[ Zzz... Static reaches out in its sleep, clinging to Oliver's hand. ]
