[bonnypiperlad]

[And once again, there is a newcomer to the Plane. This one appears to be a fairly short man with dark brown hair, who is wearing a black shirt that laces at the collar and a red kilt - one Jamie McCrimmon, by name. He stumbles for a moment, caught in mid-stride, then stops dead in his tracks.]

Hey! Where did that wee shop go?

[He glances around in bewilderment.]

Och, where am I?

[Scratching his head as he tries to figure this out, he turns and finds himself face to face with a strange building with the word 'Information' printed on a sign. He stares at it for a moment before reaching forward, taking one of the brochures, and starting to read.]

An "out-of-your-universe-experience." Not that again. A brico...what?

[This is all too confusing. He crumples up the brochure and throws it away, then sets off from the kiosk.]

Maybe if I can find the Doctor...

[Looking around, though, that seems to be an impossible task.]

Aye, well. Someone with some sense has to be around here somewhere. I'll just ask them.

[he caught that! raises an eyebrow curiously, but he doesn't want to press]

[laughs] I think all the Doctors sometimes miss--or notice--the weirdest things. But you're probably right. So you're travelling with him right now?

[bonnypiperlad]

[Jamie doesn't catch the eyebrow, as he's currently thinking about the aforementioned lava and shaking his head just a little while doing so. His attention goes back to Oliver after a moment or two, however.] I guess some things don't change, do they? And aye, I am.

[thoughtfully] Ye seem to know a wee bit about the Doctors. Are ye traveling with one as well?

[oliverplus]

[grins] Nope. Definitely not with the Doctor!

Oh, uh... [scratches his head, averting his gaze slightly] I was. But he left a while ago. I still get to see the ones here, though!

[bonnypiperlad]

[That he did notice, but he won't press...much.]

Aye, but it's not the same, is it?

[oliverplus]

[frowns] No, it's not.

[more brightly] But my Doctor just got here, too! He says it's been years for him. But still, it's actually the same Doctor this time!

[bonnypiperlad]

Aye? [There's some surprise on Jamie's end. He had been getting the impression that all the various Doctors had been here for awhile, and apparently that's not the case.]

Which one is yours, then?

[oliverplus]

You might not've met him yet. Curly hair and big teeth? With a long scarf? [gestures at his own features as he describes Four, giving a very toothy smile to demonstrate Four's teeth]

[bonnypiperlad]

A long scarf, ye said? [shaking his head] No...I've not met him yet. [Although he'll have to keep that in mind. Teeth and curls. Got it.]

Do ye know which one he is in terms of that regeneration thing, or did yours not tell ye about that either?

[oliverplus]

Oh, yeah! He's the Fourth. What about yours?

[bonnypiperlad]

I guess mine is the Second. [At least, that's what Nine said. Jamie doesn't really see any reason to doubt him. The Doctor would know which one was which, after all. He rubs at his temple a moment, shaking his head slightly.]

I'm not sure I'll be able to get them all straight.

[oliverplus]

Don't worry--they aren't all here. I doubt the universe'd be able to take that many Doctors!

[bonnypiperlad]

[gloomily] Aye, thank goodness for that. Seems like it'll be bad enough with just the ones we have here.

How much trouble do they get into, would ye say?

[oliverplus]

[makes a face] If you've been travelling with him, I doubt you need to ask.

[but his expression grows more serious, and he lowers his gaze] But I already saw one die.

[bonnypiperlad]

Mm. Aye, well, I was just thinking if there's multiple Doctors...

[He trails off, staring at Oliver with a rather startled expression.]

One of them...died?

[oliverplus]

[with a wry grin] It multiplies the trouble, right?

Ah, sorry! It's not...well, it a bit weird here. If you die, you come back. [quickly, trying to sound reassuring] And he did! He's fine again--you met him even. The one with the ears. [puts a hand to one of his own, wiggling it to imitate the proper ear size] But it was still... [frowns and shrugs, not really sure how to describe what it was like to see Nine die] Trouble he shouldn't've been in...you know?

[bonnypiperlad]

[See, that's not really making sense. He knows about Time Lords being able to regenerate, so he figures that's what happened to Nine.]

Oh. I see. He didn't really die. He just did that regeneration thing and changed his face.

[Jamie hadn't realized it happened here, that's all. He makes a brief, amused sounding sort of noise - not quite a full laugh, but close.]

For a moment, I thought ye meant that we could die and then come back, but that'd be a daft notion.

[oliverplus]

Uh...no, actually, that is what I meant. The Doctors don't even change here. Anybody who dies just... [splays out a hand] Poof! They're back. Believe it or not. [smiles sheepishly]

[bonnypiperlad]

[He'll just be staring again now.] So what ye are saying is that ye die and then ye just wake up like nothing happened?

[oliverplus]

Yeah, that seems to be about how it works. [frowns] But I wouldn't try it to find out.

[bonnypiperlad]

[There's a bit of a look sent Oliver's way. He doesn't really want to test that particular theory anytime ever, really.] Aye, I agree. I'll try not to get myself killed, then.

[quietly] Did ye...see what happened to him?

[oliverplus]

I... [his voice catches] Yeah, but... [struggles for the words] I didn't see them bring him back. Just, he showed back up and said it was the Twins--you probably saw them in that shop.

[bonnypiperlad]

[still quietly] Aye, I did.

[A few times, he's wondered if he hasn't just seen something similar happen, and he's always been glad to be wrong. To not be...he doesn't want to think about it. But he can emphasize with what Oliver must surely be feeling, and Jamie gives him a sympathetic look before deliberately changing the subject.]

That wee paper mentioned them as well, aye?

[oliverplus]

[is grateful for the change of subject, switching back to casual conversation as though he hasn't just been thinking of unpleasant memories. raises an eyebrow at the question] The--oh! The brochure, yeah. There's a lot of good info in there; you should hold onto it. But basically, the Twins and Meredith run things in this place--including the experiments. Has anybody told you about them yet?

[bonnypiperlad]

Aye. [A wee bit shifty-eyed here - he really does need to go back and find where he threw that brochure away, doesn't he?]

Er...experiments? No, I've not heard about those yet.

[And even without knowing about it, he's getting the feeling he's not going to care for them much.]

What do ye mean, exactly?

[oliverplus]

[Oliver would recommend he find it, if he realised he'd thrown it away]

Well, basically the people who run this place make things happen to us--sometimes to everybody, and sometimes just to certain people. They're are all sorts of different things. Like, getting trapped in places, or I've seen people turned into kids for a while. And I couldn't talk for three weeks once! It was awful.

But...sometimes they're really serious. Like, they change how people feel or think. They're always temporary, so that's good at least, but just...be careful.
