[takes a very small sip] There's a list of stupid things I've done while drunk - which I don't intend on reciting, by the way - and I don't want to add to it. As is, taking a kip on your shoulder is the least stupid thing I'd do if I got pissed now.

Dunno. I could... wander off, find the Master, and accidentally end up in his loving ownership. ...Though, he'd probably pawn me off to the one Doctor. So maybe it's not that stupid. [tilts his head to the side] I might get Diva really angry, and she could torture me to death. [tilts his head to the other side] Doing stupid things here seems more dangerous than it is back home.

You go near that bastard and I'll break more than your nose. You keep away from him, you hear me? I won't have my team putting themselves in that kind of danger. [glares drunkenly] Don't trust those Doctor blokes much more than those murdering bastards, either. Diva's that bird from France, isn't she? The hell could she do to you? [frowns deeper] Maybe. Don't mean you can't get good and pissed with me, though.

You do 'protective' pretty funnily - pretty - your version of 'protective' makes me laugh. And I trust the Doctors. They're good people. I think. They're nice to me, anyway. [takes another drink, though he's still playing it conservative] Diva could probably rip me from limb to limb. But she won't. I hope.

I'm DCI. It's my job to look out for my team. I'm not 'protective.' [snorts] Anyone who makes a habit of hanging out with those... 'Master' blokes is no one I'd trust. Least that new Doctor has the sense to keep the hell away from them. [is well beyond playing it conservative, though when did anything Gene Hunt did fall under conservative?] Little bird like that? You're drunker than you think, saying shit like that.

Well, one of them's in love with his Master. So it's not his fault. [definitely drunker than he thinks. And the more drunk he gets, the less conservative he gets with his alcohol. Ahh, the irony] No, she's a vampire. She drinks people's blood.

[shoves him lightly] There's nothing wrong with being gay. It's not disgusting. It's a valid way to live and love. [takes another drink] And there are more things in Heaven and Earth, Guv, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

[wobbles on his chair and almost falls, sloshing whisky all over] There's everything wrong with it, Tyler. 's unnatural and nasty. Blokes aren't supposed to love blokes, not like that. [pours himself some more drink, missing the glass a bit because his hands are shaky] All I give a shit about is my philosophy, Tyler. It's worked fine so far.

It is not. 's not like it's a choice. I mean, who'd choose to suffer the sort of shit people like you put gay people through? So if two men or two women are in love, then they're lucky than most've the world out there, and they deserve that happiness. [nudges Gene's glass over so that more whisky gets in] You don't have a philosophy. You just have gut instinct and the series of biases and prejudices you've built up in forty years.

Don't talk about it like you know how it feels, Tyler. Being a faerie's as much a choice as being a copper. One's just better than the other. Love's overrated anyway. Just leaves you arguin' more than anythin' else. [didn't notice and so doesn't much care, though he does take his drink in hand sooner, downing half of it quick as you please. not like he can feel it anymore] And was wrong with that? 's better than anything you've got.

Being a copper isn't a choice for me. There's nothing else I could do. [yay alcohol] I have more'n that. I have morals. And philosophy. And beliefs. And... things. I have a structured way of thinking.

[don't ruin his analogy, Tyler] 's still a choice. Same as it was for me. Was just an easier choice than others. [makes a pfft noise, giving Sam a bleary-eyed look] Sure you do. And what's that structured way of thinking done for you, Tyler? Other than make you look nutters and piss people off. What's it done but make you second-guess me every time? But if faeries are born liking blokes, then it's more of a disease than a choice, fine. 's still not nothin' I want done with. Can't hold your head up high, being a poofter. Can't be a real man. [yes, it is quite tasty. well...was, back when Gene could still taste it. the act of drinking is the only thing keeping him from keeling off his stool, at this point] Point? So've I, more'n you wanna give me credit for. And I did it by gut, not with any of that...structured thinkin' bullocks.

Not a disease. 's just... part of who you are. But who you shag doesn't decide if you're a man or not. You can be proud of who you are even if you're not just like everyone else. [a pause] Sometimes, it's the only way you can be proud of who you are. Sometimes everyone else is all wrong, and you have to fight, to be who you are, to do what you believe in. You have to stand up, and if you give in, you're... you're dead.

No. You're staying right here and telling me why I'm wrong. [reaches out and grabs at Sam's arm, missing by a centimetre or so and tumbling off his stool, groaning] Get back here you div...we're not done drinking...

[....] Guv... [turns around and stands over him - and then reaches out to put a hand on the counter, because falling down right now would be bad] You're done drinking.

[looks up at him blearily] ...maybe. Can I see straight?

No. [trying decide if he should hit Gene on the head so he goes unconscious then drag him somewhere safe to kip it off, or if he should try to get him back to Fumie's reality]

...right. Thought I could. [struggles to sit up, huffing and grunting and overall not having an easy time of it. eventually makes it up so he can lean on the bar, though] Can you see straight?
