[The Doctor is back around! Well, more or less. He technically didn't leave, he's just been avoiding the Plane entirely. He would rather still be away but lately he prefers sitting somewhere away from the TARDIS while he does his work. It’s more relaxing to take a stroll through space.

Speaking of work, he’s completely engrossed in a data pad. He’s scrolling through it with a stylus, occasionally stopping to click something or read longer. Once or twice, his reading is accompanied by a small holographic projection of various planets above the screen.

He’s taken to walking around the empty space, mostly following the arms of a spiral galaxy. Get his attention if you want him!]

[Leans closer, looking at the data.] Patterns can have meaning. Or be entirely random. Human minds are geared toward finding patterns. It's actually quite interesting. [He tilts his head.] I might want to remember that. [He reaches in to ta the screen, bookmarking the file.]

[Arthur smiles, looking up at the Doctor] I'm glad II can be of some help, at least.

[He smiles back.] I wouldn't really doubt it. Oh! Here. I can show you what we discussed. A neutron star. [He presses the screen a few times, still leaning over, and scrolls rapidly before clicking the file he wants. A neutron star spins above the screen, the energy jets at the poles acting as a lighthouse.] See?

[Arthur's eyes widen, and he lets out a delighted laugh as he watches the neutron star. He reaches up to touch it, the hologram shimmering around his fingers for a few moments until he pulls his hand back]

[The Doctor smiles widely and lets Arthur play with it for a bit.] You can visuals of anything you like.

[Arthur browses through the data pad, and a few moments later the neutron star is replaced by a red dwarf star, spinning slowly] This is an amazing device, Doctor.

[The Doctor is content to sip his tea and watch Arthur.] I've always enjoyed them, really. I used to get bored and rearrange system diagrams.

[Arthur's tea is already starting to get cold, but he seems oblivious to this] Would you mind if I looked through it for a while longer? Like you said, it's going to take me a while to get through all this data.

[Oh well, the Doctor did his good deed for the day. He just sits beside Arthur and nods, drinking from his cup.] You won't be able to read all that data but do feel free to look through it. I can take a break from notes for right now. But tell me if you see anything of interest. I'm curious as to what you'll think.

[Arthur nods, and his focus turns back to the data pad completely. He makes mental notes of it as he browses, still looking for patterns among the data]

[The Doctor will just sit beside him and sip his tea. Though eventually he gets bored and starts going through his pockets. He gets out a yo-yo and starts playing with it. He's also mentally going through Dalek strategies, which is frustrating as he can't think of a good one. So instead he loves his yo-yo.

This is how he spends his time.]

[Arthur eventually looks up, though he's momentarily distracted by the yo-yo. He watches it for a few seconds, then speaks up] Doctor, do you have paper and a pencil I could use to take notes?

[The Doctor lets the yo-yo unravel and nods, digging into his pockets. He pulls out a few items - his screwdriver, the psychic paper, a rubix cube - and sighs before stuffing them back in.] Somewhere in here I should. [After a moment, he produces the pencil and paper and hands them to Arthur.] There you are. I always forget which pocket.

Thank you. [He takes the paper and pencil, and shifts to lie down on his stomach on the Plane. He places the data pad down in front of him, besides the paper, and pencil in hand begins browsing again, jotting down numbers and notes every so often]

[The Doctor watches him curiously for a time, spinning the yo-yo in an idle cat's cradle. He really is impressed that Arthur is trying to learn from the material, despite the difficulty.]

[It's not long before Arthur has filled the whole front side of the paper with writing. He turns it over and begins scribbling on the back, writing the notes out in shorthand. There is more writing and less numbers this time, though three quarters of the way down he starts to write out equations as well]

[The change to equations draws the Doctor's attention and he scoots closer again, propping his head up in his hands, elbows resting on his knees. He tilts his head as he watches him write, doing his own calculations from Arthur's notes.

While Arthur is doing that, he nips to the data pad for a second and enters something quickly.]

[He looks up, a bit surprised as to when the Doctor got so close] Doctor?

[Blinks.] Hm? Oh, sorry. I needed to test an idea before I forgot it.

Oh, of course. [He glances down at the paper, which is already filled completely] I should probably return it to you now, regardless. I have plenty to go over.

[The Doctor takes it back with a nod.] I think I had an idea, you see, if I can disrupt the gravity field then I can cancel out the weapon entirely. That should help a bit.

[ANd this completely goes over Arthur's head].....what?

Oh, yes, the reason I have that entire library of information is because I've been cross-referencing known missing planets with planets that I know and trying to make connections. It's this...it's complicated. The weapon utilizes the gravity of the planets, I believe. The planets are key, yes. But I think if I can disable the weapon before we arrive, maybe I can buy time. [He bites his lip and taps the data pad thoughtfully.]

Is there anything you'd like me to look for specifically, then, when I go over my notes?

[He looks at him, tilting his head. He looks down at the data pad and flips through it for a moment before looking up again.]

Oh, all right. How about this? I'm going to give you a problem and you can try to work out the equations to solve it. We might already be there by the time you figure it out but it would be excellent practice for factoring in time dimensions anyway.
