[ 1 ] - tanto tempo fa
[A small, dark-haired woman in a long, dark blue velvet cloak appears on the Plane. She is pale, with blood red lipstick and dark makeup around her eyes--eyes that look strikingly unnatural even at first glance. They are a pale, vivid blue, with a kind of radial starburst pattern in the color.]
[She stops, quite suddenly, and looks around before taking another tentative step forward.]
What is this place? I don't remember—
That shop, what was it? Those children...are they the cause of this?
[Another step, and she reaches up to drop the hood of her cloak]
Are my eyes deceiving me? But why would I see the stars? Not darkness, but beauty...is this a dream? No bodies, no surgeons....
A wonderful dream, then.

I'm sorry, have I intruded on something?

May I ask what this place is, then, if not a dream?

But this place is called the Astral Plane, Miss. It's where a bunch of realities actually come together, and you can meet people from all kinds of places.

Forgive me, I appear to have spoken too soon. Have I intruded upon something?

Not a dream.

Not a dream? We're on a field of stars...

It wasn't, though. Well, isn't.

[a pause] How can this be real, though? A field of stars? Unless my eyes have failed somehow...

You're in another universe.

...Are you a Good Witch, or a Bad Witch?

[Mag looks...taken aback.]
I'm sorry, I—
...witch? Why would you think me a witch?

Where I'm from, the Sorceresses look like you. [By which she means "beautiful, graceful, ageless and slightly imposing". Not that she'd say as much, because that... requires words.]
But I can't tell if you're a Good one or a Bad one, so I figured I ought to ask, because I have to protect this place, and if you're a Bad Witch I ought to know about it. It's nothing personal, y'understand!

I'm not...seeing things, then? There really are stars everywhere?

[smiles charmingly, offering a hand] A pleasure to meet you. My name's Inara.
