[the Master relaxes at a rather posh dinner table, as stolen from within the TARDIS. A book of some sort, a bottle of wine, a plate of scones, and a bag of jelly babies sit on the table. He's idly writing in the book]

TARDIS: broken out of.

War between the two major political forces in the globe: provoked.

Scones: ... a bit disgusting, actually. The consistency is terrible. Maybe I'll try to teach someone to make scones, because this just isn't acceptable.

Still! All in all, a good day. I wonder if I can get Devdas on the telly some time this afternoon?

{laughs} Ne, that sounds so....whimsical, I guess you could say. It's funny to think of animals fighting wars, but I guess once you give them the human attributes, it's not surprising~

Oh, it is a bit whimsical. I'll be interested to see how my opponent responds to you. It is rather funny, though. I try not to laugh in their faces; isn't condusive to my work, most of the time.

Most of them, yes. Some are amphibious, but the most sophisticated cultures are all under the sea.

Probably not! Laughing at people is only alright when you're teasing them anyways. Ne, but what do you mean by your opponent? Your opponent can come to the Astral Plane too?

It must be really pretty. It'd be something really neat to see, a city under the sea. Well, assuming they have them. But either way, how do you go down there? You can breathe underwater?

The Doctor - the one with the messy hair, at the moment - is playing against me for this. We'll compete for the world's status.

They are very nicely done. Particularly those ones made by the jellyfish. We use diving suits, rather more sophisticated than available on your era of Earth.

Oh, Doctor? {Smiles cheerfully} Doctor and I are friends! He's a really nice person! Though...he also seems like the kind of person that might disregard that if I did something bad~ But that wouldn't be the first time, really....
Ah, but I guess that means you're kind of like the "villain", is that right? Doctor seems like a heroic kind of person. Not that it's a bad thing, either. I like both of you, so that part really doesn't matter.

That would make sense, then! You're lucky to get to see things like that! Or to meet such interesting people, whether you're manipulating them or not~

Oh, it's a bit of a toss-up, that. Sometimes he gets all righteously angry, and other times you're forgiven within the hour.

The villain to his hero, yes. But I feel it's better than what we had before, so.

It is fun. But you seem to see some travel and meet interesting people yourself, do you not? Former Anastasia, I believe you said.

Well, then I hope it would be the second one if anything happened. I would hope nothing happens at all, but well, I have bad luck when it comes to things like that.

Mmhmm~ If I drink a person's blood, then I can take their appearance. Which is why they never found Anastasia's body with her family. It had been destroyed long before the Revolution, you know~? Ah, but really, most of those people are only interesting years later when you get to read about what the world thinks of them. Like Rasputin! He was such a caring and devoted person to the Russian imperial family, but that's not how the world remembers it at all. He was manipulative, but it's not like that extraordinary in politics. Most of the things that got blamed on him were my fault, actually~ Oops. ♥

I'll try to talk him around, should it ever occur.

He tried to imprison me. It wasn't good for either of us. This... this allows us to both be who we are. It gives us an intellectual challenge and forces neither of us to conform to the beliefs of the other.

...Imprison? Well, that's not something I would have guessed Doctor would do at all. That's awful. But I'm glad that it didn't work out! Being locked up somewhere is the worst.

It was certainly my favorite. All the politics aside, the honor of that era was admirable. But it kind of...faded away afterwards, which is such a shame. The time where gentlemen weren't just common but required...It's so much nicer than loud and rude soldiers saying such vulgar things to a lady!

It wasn't one of the happiest experiences of my life, no. But the Doctor's very lonely, you see. He's become a tad desperate about it.

Chivalry is dead, and all? I do hope you didn't permit them to say such things to you.

...Lonely? Really? That's unexpected. It seems like he would be the kind of person to have lots of friends.

Oh, of course not. Only a few times when I absolutely had to be nice to such...swine. Other than that, ne, they madenice enough meals.

Oh, plenty. And they all leave him in the end. Of their own choice, because fate rips them apart, or simply mortal death. Breaks his hearts a little bit every time.

That's so sad, though. Obviously Doctor needs more friends that live longer. Humans don't like long at all, which is kind of a shame.

That's why he imprisoned me. Because I could stay with him.

But are you two friends? Or at least can stand each other? It'd be kind of pointless if you didn't like the other person.

Well, I hate him and he needs me. From there, it gets complicated.
