[have the TARDIS walking about with a glass of some sort of wine. she's so taking advantage of having prolonged, physical projections to finally try things she couldn't before]

I will never understand the fascination with imbibing alcohol. This is the fourth one I've had and I am as unimpressed with this one as the last three. I must wonder why the Doctor insists on keeping it around.

I've noticed a great deal more people arriving in this place. If we could calculate when a new being in being drawn into this nexus, perhaps we could harness that energy as a means of escape for ourselves. Has anyone tried such a thing, yet?

I know it was often used on Earth as an antiseptic for wounds, or a numbing agent. Is this what you mean?

[nods] It's quite effective.

I shall keep that in mind, then.

It's also supposedly effective at staving off chills, though that effect is more psychological than physical I've found. The effects may be different for humans, but I've yet to be in a situation that would provide an answer.

It seems something the Rani would enjoy experimenting with.

More a nuisance than anything else, as she often had the Doctor entangled in her plots. Nasty woman.

The Doctor? I've met two gentlemen who've gone by that name. I take it you know one of them?

They are the same man, only different regenerations. But yes, I know him. I have known him well for centuries.

[Please excuse Mu while he gets his brain around that.] Regenerations...?

The Doctor is a Time Lord. As such, he can regenerate his body to escape death should it be injured or damaged.

That's quite a handy feat.

For a human, I suppose it would be.

I suppose it would. They only live eighty-some years and tend to get themselves killed quite a bit.

It seems to be a failing with many species, honestly.

Short lifespan or self-destructive instinct?

[shrugs] Both.

I suppose. Yet I find the species with the shorter lifespans tend to do more living.

Then you've never travelled among the stars as the races who live long do.

I'm afraid I haven't. My movements are, in fact, rather restricted.

How sad for you. I cannot imagine not being able to travel.

It is a shame, but where I am is rather nice. I don't entirely mind. With luck, I'll be free to go in a few years time [Trying VERY hard not to think about the "everybody dies" ending that Shun told him the other day].
