[Hei and Misaki are at the bar, because apparently that the Place To Be for disfunctional couples. But they aren't hanging all over each other, flirting, kissing, or talking about the kids. They are sitting as far apart as possible while still remaining in the same space. Misaki sits in a booth, flushed, staring into space. Hei is at the bar facing the opposite direction, drink in hand. Bandaged hand; he appears to have torn it up rather badly.

[She starts laughing. And laughing, and laughing, and laughing.] Your hypocrisy is stunning. Truly beautiful, Diva, I mean it.

{Diva actually tears up a little, but that doesn't stop her from grabbing Misaki's throat across the table}

[Sam spots danger and SERIOUSLY why do you people do this to him]

Woah woah woah, what's going on here? Diva! Let go of her, right now!

{She pauses, squeezing just a little bit harder before she lets go quickly to trot over to Sam and bury her face in his chest}

Ne, Sam, it's not because of...of "Stockholm's Syndrome", is it? Why Sam likes me, is it?

[She coughs, clears her throat, and rubs it gently. She'll apologize to Sam later, once Diva isn't around and once she's feeling marginally more articulate.]

[Sam would like to know what the hell is going on, and considering that Diva was just literally choking a bitch, Sam's going to have to try to pry her off him rather than the instinctive comforting hug that he wants to give]

What? I don't--"Stockholm Syndrome"? What the hell is going on?

[stares at Misaki, as if she'd have an answer]

What just happened?

I only came to talk to her, and then she started saying terrible things! I didn't do anything!

And you, what, decided choking her to death was the appropriate reaction? And what's this about me and Stockholm Syndrome?

...I wouldn't kill her! I'm just...upset.

[When she speaks, her voice sounds like a razor blade that's been dragged over rocks.] After everything you said about me and Hei, you cannot honestly expect me to not laugh when you tell me to keep my mouth shut. You should be happy. You were right. Congratulations, go suck a bloodbank dry and leave me alone.

[didorothy]

[turns to Misaki - sternly,] That's not helping, Misaki. You're hammered; sit down. And when you drink to clear your throat out, it better not be alcohol.

[and now to Diva] Being 'upset' isn't any reason to start choking someone. Not ever. And Misaki's obviously upset herself after what happened; you can't get angry at her just because she said...

[pauses, remembering the 'bloodbank' line]

Even if it was out of line, you can't hurt her like that. No matter which of you started it, it's up to the other one to be the better person and not escalate it. Have either of you heard of being 'the better person'?

[it occurs to him that Misaki can likely hardly remember her own name, let alone the whole 'turn the other cheek' thing, and that it's entirely likely that Diva HAS NOT heard of being 'the better person,' but Sam's not going to talk about that]

...But Sam...

{She brings a hand to her lip, looking away, then down, then back to Sam} No, I don't know. But I'm sorry.

[She's just... snorts, and takes a swig of her beer. And then coughs. Ow.] You want to hear out of line? Do you know how she talks when you're not around? The things she said about me, about Hei? [She's tired of being the better person. :| More beer now.]

[didorothy]

[puts his hands on Diva's shoulders, looking at her] Thank you. We're going to have to have a word about your temper, though.

[then turns to Misaki]

No, I don't know. How can I? What I do know is that you're pissed and you shouldn't be drinking anymore than what you've already had. Now are you going to put that beer down or do I have to take it from you?

[madamemoiselle]

{She nods, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes} Alright, Sam.

{Glances over her shoulder at Misaki} And what are you talking about?

[She is ignoring them both now and drinking her alcohols.]

Oh, for Christ's sake...

[lets go of Diva and walks over to Misaki, taking her drink away]
