[It's a Firo! Looking positively blown away with delight at something. He's dressed up in a dark suit and overcoat with a brand new black hat, which he is currently hanging onto, and his hair is sticking up in about ten different directions.]

They finished it! And it's--damn, it's keen. Can see forever from up there! The whole city's gone wild. It's... It's... something!

Yeah? She's that good with pla--[SNRG, water up nose. Coughing.] Hey! I can't splash a lady!

I thought you called me a dame, not a lady. [ Splash splash splash! ]

[Well fine, if you're going to be like that! He sheds his suit jacket on the shore and sloshes in, cupping his hands and sending big sloshes of water at her.]

[ Angela squeaks and covers her face with her arms, then kicks water at him, still giggling. ]

[And Firo slips and falls on his ass.] Ow.

[ Cue Angela flopping onto her back in the water in a fit of giggles. ]

[Too dignified to rub his butt.] Glad you're tickled. [Sudden curiosity. He scrambles upright.] Hey--what's that?

[Point! And it's one of Cy's little ghostly electric butterflies, hovering above some ferns.] Damn. Did Amaterasu make those too?

[ Angela starts standing up, attempting to dry herself off. She wrings the pretty-much-pointless coattails on her outfit, and glances up to where he's pointing. ]

I don't think so. I've never seen her make them, anyway.

[He slips his way out of the water and over to where the butterfly is.] Wow--there's more, come and see! [Firo reaches out to touch it--and feels a sharp shock flash up his arm as it bursts in green light.]

Ow! [A bit surprised at that--but look, a few feet away, another one has blinked into existence.] Huh. It shocked me.

[ Angela comes over, making a face as the butterfly shocks him. ] Careful, water and lightning don't mix well. [ Have a little arm rub, Firo. ]

They look like something you'd find in Diorre.

[Watches them, sort of hypnotized.] Diorre? Is that where the glowing forest place is? Lamplighter Woods?

[ She nods. ] Diorre is the city of the elves. It's inside the Lampflower Forest. My friend Carlie's father was from there.

[He sits down on the grass, then flops onto his back and stares up at the stars.]

She's not, though?

[ She shakes her head. ] Her parents were cast out, since her mother was human. They moved to Wendel, but died when Carlie was a baby. She was taken in by the church there.

[ Angela sits down next to him ] I'm the only one of us with a living parent.

[Quiet for a bit.] That why you were curious about my mom and dad?

[ She tips her head. ] A little, maybe. Mostly I was just curious about you.

[He smiles.] Not much to me. Just a kid who's got a hand for knifework.

You say that like it's boring. [ Angela turns herself so she can lay down and rest her head on his tummy. ] You also make a good pillow.

[Freezes in a sort of HUHWHAT moment, but doesn't pull away or push her off, because that would probably be rude.]

Um... Thanks? And it kinda is, next to your life.

[ Angela hasn't noticed his discomfort, or she probably would've sat up. She continues looking up at the stars. ]

My life's pretty boring now. I'm trapped in a castle all day, listening to people tell me what I should do to be a proper queen. Being royalty isn't half as glamorous as it sounds.

[Focusing very hard on not focusing on her head on his stomach. One of the electric butterflies fizzles by over his face.]

Things are pretty regular for me, now that the whole business with Szilard is over. I mean, there's stocking the Alveare, cards and stuff, all the back-room business we do. But the point is for it to happen nice and quiet. Not a lot of shootouts or rescues or stuff like that, like last time I came here.

It's weird, isn't it? Having something happen that changes things so much, then just going back to normal life. [ She frowns ] I'm trying to, but I can't relax. I don't know how my friends have managed to do it.

Yeah. [Quiet a bit longer.] I think about stuff a lot more than I used to. [Rubs the back of his head sheepishly.] Maybe that sounds stupid.

It's not stupid, really. I used to just... do whatever the hell I wanted before. Now I have to think about things before I do them, since I saw how the actions of a few affected so many people.

Yeah. It's kinda like that, I guess. I think more about keeping my men safe, the ones who weren't there, or joined up after we turned immortal. But about other stuff too.
