[because Dero can't survive with the Brig being dead any longer, he's alive and on the Plane. he's inwardly quite disturbed, you know, by the fact he was killed and now is alive - and it shows on his face via... him just looking thoughtful, really.

the Brig takes just a moment or so before seeming to 'snap' out of it, and then he assumes his general neutral expression]

Well. Seems I'm in need of a new gun.

[which is correct, as the gun normally in his holster is gone completely]

I've always been a particularly lucky man, Harkness. I could survive a helicopter crash without a scratch.

A helicopter crash doesn't follow you with the intent to rip out your throat.

But it's just as deadly.

Everybody else died; pure luck doesn't save you from such a thing in a place like the Astral Plane.

Tell me what happened.

[he shoots Jack a bit of an annoyed look] Harkness, I am perfectly fine. I'm no fool. I didn't just stand around on the plane when being attacked - I dropped back to my reality to avoid being hit.

I only dropped to avoid damage. I returned a bit later to fire shots, then I'd drop again. Simple tactics.

[Jack looks far from happy now] Except you wouldn't know where she would be every time you would appear again, because she was a constantly moving target. You couldn't give her too much space either; get too far, and she'd go after someone nearer.

Besides, if you had managed to keep your distance, your gun would be in one piece and in your holster.

She was only close the one time, Captain. Grabbed my gun and my face - I gave her a firm blow to the knee and she went down. Couldn't get the Webley out of her hand before she crushed it.

I had those same fingers wrapped around my heart Brigadier; why would she grab only your face, despite having a knife in her other hand, and not even leave bruises?

I'm lucky. I went through three guns in that fight, actually. She got the Webley, I dropped from the level to get a second one, she reduced that to scrap, and had to work with a third one.

Luck has nothing to do with.

You will tell me what the hell happened to you, damnit! Otherwise I'll just have to ask Diva myself.

[coldly/calmly]

I killed her some several times before she put her hand through my chest.

[Jack doesn't say anything for a long time, then without a word he reaches forward, pushing undoing the Brigadier's jacket and shirt and pushing them out of the way to reveal the bare skin underneath, eyes scanning for some sort of wound or even scar]

[and there is, of course, nothing. not a mark where he was hit with one of his own bullets, nor where she was ripping at the wound, nor where she slammed her hand through his chest]

I already checked. No broken finger or bite marks, either.

....how? You died, but there isn't a scratch on you.

[he begins rebuttoning everything] I expect it was the Twins. They were the first two I saw after... I came back. [once done, he smooths it out to look entirely presentable] I don't want you to tell a soul about this, Harkness. It's none of their concern.

[Jack watches, thoughts whirling around in his head, he nods at the Brigadier's request, eyes still fixed on where a wound should be] Bringing the dead back to life...do they do this with only a select few?

[and hands behind his back, standing straight] I don't know. I didn't stick around to have a chat.

There's a chance then... [Jack seems lost in thought, apparently oblivious to the Brigadier. Hi face seems to light up all of the sudden, a huge smile now on his face] There's a chance Misaki might come back as well. [Without even thinking about it he leans forward and kisses the Brigadier, too happy to really care about possible consequences at the moment]

[the Brig is hardly up for complaining about being kissed, he's more bothered about someone knowing he died. so, hey, Jack, you get to kiss the Brig! and because I feel like it, the Brig returns it before completely pulling away and going on completely as normal]

A friend of yours?

[Jack seems a bit disappointed when he pulls away, but knows better than to lean back in, at least for now]
