[and now, for your viewing pleasure, FANSERVICE- okay, no, not really, but for some people it might be. it's the Brigadier sans uniform, just in light clothing, and with a sword. Brig is not frequently with a sword, but he figured since he's going about various planets and times, he might as well take a moment to learn something period appropriate

and so, the Brig is going through various motions over and over, repeating various moves and stances]

You shouldn't flourish so much in the second set--that move's meant to be a straight thrust, not a parry. You'll give anyone with the eye for it an opening.

Ah. [Scratches his neck, a bit embarrassed and wondering exactly whose memories he was tapping into to get that information. It's disconcerting how he can't automatically tell.] A bit, I guess. Do more with knives myself.

[the Guv's been watching the Brig practice in silence, arms crossed over his chest, puffing away at a cig. he never was one much for sword fighting -- knew a couple blokes back in Nationals who did it, thought they were pretty daft for choosing that over something a bit more satisfying, like boxing -- but he had to admit, this guy looked like a natural and, if he was gonna win the war against the Masters? he could use every hand he could get, even if it fought with a bloody sharp twig]

[the Brig remained aware of his surroundings even as he began to work up a good sweat from running through sets and motions in repetition. he saw Gene, vaguely acknowledged his presence with a slight nod, and continued to hone his skills. the Brig, after all, was a man who enjoyed perfection in his works and abilities, so he had no intention of just calling it quits for the day]
