[Hei appears, looking rather irritated, and promptly heads off along the Astral Plane, walking with a purpose and looking like he's searching for something.]

By M11, I think...

[Keeps walking, mostly in silence, though he mutters to himself occasionally. After a bit he comes upon his telescope and his expression darkens. The telescope has been knocked over and is lying on its side. Hei crouches down, sighing heavily.]

This on top of the rest of it...

[Disappears for a moment, coming back with a toolkit and a bag of sandwiches. He settles down and starts going to work on his poor, beat-up telescope.]

[Flops onto the Plane next to him, crosses his arms behind his head and watches the stars.] Damn. I'm starting to think the brunos here would kibosh someone like me.

Someone like me. [He grins at Li.] It would be brodie--um, a mistake--to think I'm just some joe, but even I can't make things blow up without something to do the work for me.

[Chuckles.] Most people can't. The ones who did it are quite powerful, though. Not dangerous...usually, but still powerful.

Well, anyone with that amount of power could be dangerous, given the right conditions. But they're not the kind to just attack people randomly. [Unless one of them is being possessed by Hades, but that's a long story that Hei doesn't want to get into right now.]

[His expression darkens.] That's good, then.

[A flash of memory, insane laughter, the raw, powerful rush of life and knowledge surging through him. Firo grunts and looks away, trying not to show he's in pain.]

[But nothing is lost on Hei. He watches Firo with a level look.]

Fi-- [Or not. He bolts upright, holding his head in both hands.] Ngah!

[Now Hei is a bit concerned.]

Firo?

[A million miles away, standing a good foot taller than he usually does, sneering down at the immortal he's been tracking for the past three months. Pain closes out the image, leaving Firo wrapped in throbbing darkness, before the Plane slowly drifts back into view. His breathing steadies slowly, and he wipes the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve.]

[Under his breath,] Two in one day?

Huh? [Sort of forgot Hei was there.]

[Fixes him with a pointed look.]

What was that about, Firo?

[Shrugs and look away.]

[Does exactly the same, going back to his scope.]

[Noncommittally,] Do you want some painkillers, at least?

[Leans back on his hands.] Nah. Won't help.

Hm. [Tra-la-la, telescope~]

[He sighs.] They're just headaches. Maiza said they'd go away.

[Glances at him.] I see. That's fortunate, then.

[Is silent for awhile, working and alternately munching sandwiches.]

So how are you adjusting to this place?

It's not so bad, I guess. Bit strange.

It is that. The people are generally good though. And I'm glad for the stars.
