❄ 6 - Plane chaos begins
[The Plane kitchen. Often, it is the saving grace for any and all hungry Plane-goers. Sometimes, it is a deathtrap, fooling people into believing it will be a safe haven.
Today, it is neither. It is the start of something bigger by a demi-god who is mad as hell--and he's not going to take it anymore.
The kitchen is empty when Loki enters it. He doesn't linger inside; he merely retrieves a piece of fruit from a bowl then leaves. But the kitchen has changed the moment he's gone, though it doesn't look like it on the surface. Nothing is out of place. The fruit looks like fruit, the meats in the fridge look like meat, the crackers in the cupboard look how they do on the box, and so on. But one touch is all it will take to make each and every food item melt into a thick sludge. It will not smell unpleasant, nor will it be hazardous to one's health. It's actually quite nutritious, but tastes like roasted boar for some reason.
But will anyone actually eat it? Well, that's one question...]

Loki! Been a while. How'd godhood?
[she knows they didn't part on the most pleasant of terms last time--at least, assuming her memory can be trusted. but when has the Doctor ever been one for caution anyway?]

It is, as always, eventful. [He raises an eyebrow at her.] I suspect a similar sentiment may be said for yourself, Detective Inspector.

[but she chuckles ruefully at that] Considering the state of things at the moment? I'd say I've met more 'ospitable alien environments. You know, most places you visit don't rewrite parts of your mind when you get there!
no subject
[What she says next catches him off-guard.] You... How do you know?
no subject
[her amusement at his surprise is obvious] What, 'ow many people mistaking me for the detective--and not knowing me at all--do you think it would take for me to work it out? No, don't worry. I know.
[not that she plans to give him the specifics. she doesn't fully trust him, after all. but she's sure the problem is obvious to him, so there's no point in trying to hide it. she would have had to pretend to be Menzies if she'd meant to do that, and that's something she'd like to avoid if at all possible]

You are a clever woman, and no doubt needed but one person before you could construct your puzzle. The Detective Inspector should be honored to share a face with one such as you.

[because as much as the others have been telling her that she is this detective, it's easier for her to view them as two distinct people--two minds that have swapped places in a single body, perhaps, but two different people all the same. and only one of them is "present" now]
But what about you, then? What sort of "eventful" things 'ave been going on in your, ah, realm?
no subject
[When she asks about his realm, however, there's a flash of something in his eye for a fleeting second before he's all charms again.] Oh, my affairs will seem trivial to what must be an exciting time in your life. My brother continues to get us in trouble and I must save us when events spiral out of control. Natives of other realms have been angered, some blood shed, but no one's worse for wear. And then I spend some of my time here, and some of my time at home. I'm currently here, for now, to take a break from my brother's whims.
May I interest you in anything from the kitchen? I must admit I am famished.

Oh, I'm so glad the bloodshed didn't leave anyone the worse for wear! [her voice is dripping with sarcasm; she is clearly not impressed by his account of affairs back home. and since he's now upset her moral core, she just gives him a look at that question] What, that apple wasn't enough for you? [she scoffs] Unfortunately, this talk of whimsical deaths 'as rather ruined my appetite.
no subject
No offense meant, my dear Doctor. Times of battle and war are not suited for those without an iron stomach. Perhaps another time?
no subject
Oh, naturally not. [she smiles, but there's nothing genuine about the expression] I'll keep it in mind. [she waves a dismissive hand] You run along and eat, if that's what you want.
[because she's not sure she'd mind seeing the back of him now that he's yet another person who doesn't know her and he's being flippant about war]
