[There have been many times in Jamie's life where he's not understood what's going on, usually when there's a name or a word or an idea that's far past his time. Usually he figures out some way to get through, either by questions or by pretending he has a clue. It's worked well enough for him before.
Today, however, it's more difficult to do that, thanks to the very large blank in his memory. It would possibly be frustrating if he wasn't still somewhat disorientated by what had happened, but mostly right now he feels strange, in a bit of a daze that makes thinking difficult. In an effort to try and clear the fog around his head, he starts to wander the Plane with no clear destination in mind. Eventually, he finds himself over by the forest, with a strong urge to sit which he doesn't bother to try and fight, instead settling under a large tree and unwrapping a bundle that he's been carrying with him. In the bundle is a broken hunting knife, which he stares down at like he's expecting it to give him some answers. It doesn't really seem to be cooperating, though, and after a moment he sighs, shaking his head even as he continues to look at the object in his hand.]
Och, I wish I knew what was going on.

It sounds like there is something quite strange going on, certainly. But if you wouldn't mind, could you start from the start for me? I am quite new here, but perhaps a new perspective on your situation will shed light on something previously unnoticed.

[He's not entirely sure that's what Canada meant, anyway.]
Or did ye want me to go back to what happened just before I wound up here today?
no subject
Unless there is some distant context that would be useful, just about today would be fine, thank you.

Right, let's see. We were traveling in the TARDIS, and it was going to be awhile before we landed, so I'd thought I'd come check up on Troub..er, my ferret. And I remember walking over to where I've gotten his cage set up and...and...
[He frowns faintly as he trails off, something that winds up turning deeper and rather more troubled in appearance as the seconds tick by.]
And...I don't remember what happened after that.

He nods slowly, and asks what may well be a third obvious question:]
And you woke up here just now? So you haven't been back to where you were before yet?
[Make that four.]
no subject
Not here here, no. I walked here after I left the shop. But you're right that I've not been back there yet.
[He'd needed to sit first, but he has to admit he's feeling a little better now, and a thoughtful look crosses his face.]
It's not too far from here, actually. Maybe I should go.

[He hesitates a beat- it might seem a bit much when he's just met Jamie, but it would be remiss of him to not offer-]
I'll understand if you want to go it alone, but I'd be happy to keep you some company, if you want it.
no subject
Aye, that might not be a bad plan. Come on, then, it's this way.
[And he heads off through the forest without waiting to see if Canada will follow. He's maybe a little impatient that way.]
no subject
Canada follows quietly for a while, but then thinks of something to talk about.]
If I may, Jamie, I was wondering if I could ask you to put your mind to something for me. It doesn't have to be right away...
no subject
[He doesn't stop, precisely, but he does slow down enough so he can glance back over his shoulder - and give Canada the chance to catch up if he likes.]
Put my mind to what?

I have been given the idea that updating the brochure that new arrivals receive would be very beneficial. You have been coming here for a while- I would value your insight and any information you could contribute.
