[There have been many times in Jamie's life where he's not understood what's going on, usually when there's a name or a word or an idea that's far past his time. Usually he figures out some way to get through, either by questions or by pretending he has a clue. It's worked well enough for him before.
Today, however, it's more difficult to do that, thanks to the very large blank in his memory. It would possibly be frustrating if he wasn't still somewhat disorientated by what had happened, but mostly right now he feels strange, in a bit of a daze that makes thinking difficult. In an effort to try and clear the fog around his head, he starts to wander the Plane with no clear destination in mind. Eventually, he finds himself over by the forest, with a strong urge to sit which he doesn't bother to try and fight, instead settling under a large tree and unwrapping a bundle that he's been carrying with him. In the bundle is a broken hunting knife, which he stares down at like he's expecting it to give him some answers. It doesn't really seem to be cooperating, though, and after a moment he sighs, shaking his head even as he continues to look at the object in his hand.]
Och, I wish I knew what was going on.

What do ye mean, what do I remember? And what are people wondering? What's going on?
no subject
Ah… a few people have been waking up lately, and not quite remembering what happened before they were… out, so to speak, so I wondered… But if it's something else bothering you, that's all right. But I suppose it means we have another mystery on our hands.

[He scratches at his ear for a moment, considering, then gives the other man a slightly sheepish look.]
Ah, well, if ye must know, I did just have that problem myself. Ye said other people were having it too?
no subject
no subject
Aye, well, I'm not sure I'd blame him.
[A faint frown appears on his face, however.]
And ye say neither of them remembered what was going on? Don't suppose either of them said anything about waking up on a table, did they?
no subject
They didn't, but… was this in a lab? In the shop?
no subject
Y-yes, it was. Ray was there, too, but he'd not said anything to me.
no subject
They're really not the most helpful people, are they? Did he do anything?
no subject
[He looks for a second like he's going to say something else, but then he winds up turning his head away to stare off at nothing in particular with a faint frown on his face, seeming to forget the other man's presence. Sorry, Hawk, he's still a little out of it.]
no subject
[he watches Jamie for a few moments, head tilted, somewhat concerned, and then leans forward.]
Was there anything else you noticed?
no subject
[He gives Hawk a confused look, then shakes his head in an attempt to try and focus.]
Sorry. They've had some before, but I suppose it depends on who's in charge at the time. Ray...I think there's something about some of the people here that affects him in some way, but I've not talked to him much. And I'd not really noticed anything else in there, anyway.
no subject
[He gestures to the knife, now.] Is that yours?
no subject
[He's a firm believer in the fact not too many of the people who would work here would give out much information at all - at least not easily. But he gives another shake of his head at the question, not to focus this time, but simply to say no.]
No, mine's still where it always was.
[He turns back the corner of the coat to show the dagger in its sheath at his waist, then offers out the broken knife to Hawk.]
Here, ye can take a look if ye like. Maybe you'll have more luck at figuring out something than I have.

no subject
Ooh. Items, though, ye said. What sorts of items were they?
no subject
no subject
[Just don't ask him where it's located, because he has no clue.]
But what's matches got to do with a baseball, a walking stick and that knife?
no subject
Well… I'd thought they were probably related to whoever's behind this.
no subject
[So it's really just something he'd picked up along the way. But he looks a little thoughtful at the mention of them being related, because it's possible. However, he's not sure how they'd be related, exactly.]
Yes, I see what you mean, but I'm still not finding any sort of pattern there.
no subject
Mm… I have to admit, I'm not too sure what it could be, either. But… why else would we have them?
no subject
no subject
[it's weird not being able to figure out what they mean.]
no subject
[He sighs heavily, and reaches up to scratch at the back of his neck.]
I hope we are able to figure it out, though. I can't say as I care much for the idea of so many of us not remembering what happened like this.
no subject
no subject
Aye, and if it keeps up...
[He shakes his head.]
I'll not let something like this happen to Victoria.
