[There is a new addition to the Plane today. She appears to be a tall woman in her thirties with Mediterranean skin and long wavy black hair. Her eyes are obscured by a pair of dark Ray-Bans. Clad in a white labcoat over a black dress, she cuts a striking silhouette against the swirling stars and planets of the Astral Plane.

Unlike most new arrivals, she seems to know what she's doing. As people pass, she waves some kind of handheld sci-fi sensor at them, and takes notes on a clipboard.]

[The woman barely gives the girl pause.]

I'm recording the vital signs of the residents. It's important to run regular checkups, but most people don't take kindly to unscheduled doctor's visits.

Doubt they take kindly to random folks shining beams on them, either. ( she arched a brow )

You people complain about everything. If you can't appreciate what we do for you, then that's just unfortunate.

[She casually flips some hair behind her shoulder.]

Not quite, though I do have a doctorate.

You're pretty quick to take offense, but I gather that a lot of people aren't really here by choice. You really can't place blame onto people that are forced into a reality not of their choosing.

Anyway, I wasn't actually complaining about it, just making a general statement. I'm just curious. ( she shrugs )

A doctorate in what? ( speaking of that curiosity, she gives an inquisitive smile to the woman )

You know nothing of how the Machine works, do you? The reality you have is entirely of your choosing, and nothing else.

[She adjusts her coat.]

Science. [She makes a vague hand motion.]

You're kidding right? I don't want to be stuck here visiting some random Plane here and there without all my friends and family. I mean, if this were my choice I would at least have made sure that Seaweed Brain were with me... ( wouldn't she...? briefly, she frowned, lost in thought about how the subconscious worked and whether or not it was something to do with that. she noticed, however, to more properly think on it later on )

No, I am not kidding. Your perception is your reality. Or is that too ethereal for you to grasp? I expected more from you, but that's how things go, I suppose.

[She turns, adjusting her grip on her scanner.]

Now, I have work to do.

Not if it's subconscious reality. ( with that, she folds her arms somewhat bitterly ) There aren't many people that would choose this sort of lifestyle, so if this reality is being perceived through the subconscious mind and projected as reality, it would make more sense.

And you really don't need to be so jerkish.
