[There is a new addition to the Plane today. She appears to be a tall woman in her thirties with Mediterranean skin and long wavy black hair. Her eyes are obscured by a pair of dark Ray-Bans. Clad in a white labcoat over a black dress, she cuts a striking silhouette against the swirling stars and planets of the Astral Plane.
Unlike most new arrivals, she seems to know what she's doing. As people pass, she waves some kind of handheld sci-fi sensor at them, and takes notes on a clipboard.]

I've already acquired the reading I needed from you. Thank you for your cooperation.

I'm simply doing some readings. It isn't of any real concern.

Lookin' for somethin', ma'am?

Thank you, but no thank you-- I'm taking some measurements.
[She casually jots down some notes.]

[He's quiet for a minute. Just watching her. Pretty lady. Might be a robot.]
On what?

How rude. [Flippant~] You could at least tell me what you've seen.

Even if I took the time to explain in great detail, you wouldn't understand it. In layman's terms, I'm making sure your vital signs are normal among other things.

Ah? What's this?

It's none of your concern. I'm merely doing some routine measurements on the occupants of the Machine.

[Oh, look, it's a gadget. Jamie likes those, and immediately wanders over to try and get a better look.]
What's that you've got there?
no subject
It's a device created specifically for registering vital signs and other important variables in the subject.

[He peers at the lights for a moment, his brow furrowing just a tiny amount.]
What sorts of variables?

Hey? ( sliding her hands into her jeans' back pockets she gives a nod to her ) Ahh... Whacha got there?

I'm recording the vital signs of the residents. It's important to run regular checkups, but most people don't take kindly to unscheduled doctor's visits.

So you're a doctor here ...?

Ohhhh, are we scanning each other today? I've got to say, I don't normally like being scanned without my knowledge unless I know the reason why.

[She doesn't even seem intimidated by the sonic. How sad. The notes are in gibberish, but there are columns and an inordinate amount of variables, which suggests she's doing exactly what she said she was doing. She gets annoyed by his space invading more than the peeking.]
If no one watches your vital signs and something goes wrong, then you could disintegrate without even the possibility of regeneration. It would be a pity.
[She pops and reappears about ten feet away, continuing to jot down notes.]

Who says I need my vitals monitored? Who the hell are you anyway?
