[for the first time in weeks, Menzies stands on the Plane looking completely like her normal self. her eyes aren't glowing, she's not sniffly or congested, and there is no rash on her neck. she's wearing a suit like usual, but today it's unruffled, and her hair is pulled back neatly. and most of all, she can see]
[she cups her hands around her mouth, making a shouted announcement at anyone in the area] Oi, anybody who's been sick from that blue pollen! We've found a way to stop it!
[lowering her hands, she waits a moment for anyone who means to approach before explaining:] Think about the symptoms: sneezing, itching, a rash--it's like an allergy. So 'ow do you deal with it? Allergy medicine. If you've got it in your world, get some and take it. If not, we'll get it for you. After that, whatever's wrong will slowly disappear.
[she smiles, relieved and thrilled that they've solved something for once] And it'll be over.
[ooc: Feel free to use this as a mingle post and thread-hop to help each other. Let's solve the plot together!]

[but she cuts off with a gasp, feeling it as he dives into her mind] What the hell are you--!? [she grabs her head with her hands; he's scared her now. she wasn't expecting this. but it's hard to concentrate as he begins to pull up her memories]
[a tiny girl, on her mother's lap, is reading a book with her guidance. she's frustrated but still enjoying it. she wants to know what's coming next in the story--!]
[and then she's on the sofa in her living room, craning her head to see into the kitchen as her mother has a hushed phone conversation about "that man." it skips ahead a little, and she's asking her mother where her daddy is. her mother's expression is dark and pained as she sits the little girl down with her and explains that she doesn't have one--that no man who refuses to see her or support her should be called that. that it's just the two of them, and that's okay. little Patricia is confused, but she nods, agreeing with her mother's words. no father, then. her mother hugs her, and she smiles, content]
[then she's a bit older--and terrified. she runs, diving into Mr Sterling's front bushes and clamps her hands over her ears against the sound of gunshots coming from down the street. as the little girl cries in fear, an unbidden tear runs down the face of her adult self. that's a day she remembers well. Menzies clutches her head in reality as pain runs through it at Gabriel's antics. with gritted teeth, she forces out:] Stop it!
["I'm going to be a policeman!" one more memory comes to mind; she's making the declaration to her mother. she's only 8, but yesterday Kristy's mother overdosed on drugs and wound up in the hospital, and Patricia has seen enough. maybe she has to run away from the danger now, but she won't always. one day, she'll stop things like this from happening to other people. she promises]
Stop it--now! [the cry is almost a growl through the emotions and the pounding in her head. he's made his point, and she doesn't appreciate it]

[He sighs at what he sees, though. He had seen millions of people's fates and lives; he's familiar with all the patterns already, nothing new there. But Gabriel had learned that they can still be sensitive about their memories, their inner demons... After little Patricia has decided her life goal, he stops and slowly withdraws from her head, leaving the headache behind. He knew that would get his point through.]
Aaan' with that, we're on the equal ground again. [He nods as he fishes a chocolate bar from his pocket. No, not going to share, he needs his energy back. Ignoring the tears and pain he had left.] It's amazing you don't have worse daddy issues though.
no subject
You call that equal ground? You know, all I really wanted to know was if we were on the same side. And you might say that, but I'm not so sure. I didn't know you were a vengeful god!
[she practically spits the words. and then she eyes him, wondering what he'll have to say next]

I admit I have different methods than you but our goals are the same, babe, I don't like bad neighborhoods either, I'd wish humans would stop doing things that messes up others, physically or mentally. You're a dream to have on Earth, making my job easier, you see.
But ya're still a human, darling.

[she's still not sure what he is. he seemed to react to the word "angel," but even if that's the answer, she doesn't know what it would mean. in any case, she knows now that he's very powerful, and she's even more dubious about how he uses those powers. she resists the urge to put a hand to her head, refusing to show that weakness. the pounding is just making her angrier, and she keeps glaring]
No, I think you've got things confused. Because you know what? Justice isn't the same thing as vengeance. And if going around taking revenge on people for their crimes is what you do? Then no, we're not on the same side.
no subject
We're not that different, Menzy. [Smirks.]
no subject
Yeah, well, unlike you, my job is just to find the people like that and stop 'em. The rest is up to the courts. [her tone sharpens, and she glares at him for using her memories against her] Whatever I might feel, I don't dole out revenge. But you seem quick enough to.
[she sighs, rubbing her temple, and glances around, noticing that the cats have all scattered. her tone lightens, becoming more casual. she's said her piece, and she's going to keep an eye on him, but it's up to him if he wants to escalate this further] Looks like you've lost your entourage. Are you planning to bring those back to your reality, or are they meant to wander 'round 'ere till somebody adopts them?
no subject
Court doesn't give justice, and ya should know that damn well better than anyone. Oh Menzy, you could do so much more than this, and I would even help ya.
[Though, actually, he likes the subject change, and that she's still talking to him. Small victories are still victories after all. He looks around, eying the cats that are now wandering around.] It wasn't my fault they were playing accessories for me, why would I care. But if ya want to you can keep the tiger. [Grin.]
no subject
[she knows that leaving him be would be a mistake since she's not sure she can trust him. not to mention, while Gabriel doesn't know this, she can't leave the Plane until she's solved a case back home--so she can stop a bomb before it goes off. which means the best she could do is walk away, and she's not ready for that yet]
Oh, I don't know. I just thought, maybe somebody who pretends to be acting in people's interest might want to do something about a tiger on the loose. [and she gives him a look, hand on her hip. she'd send it back to his world herself if she could]
no subject
I choose who I play sugar daddy, 'kay? It's exactly why being a god rules, I pick the players on the board. Aaaand I'd make you Queen. [Flashes a wide smile, then looks over the tiger.]
She's safer here, it's not the tigers who're on the loose. She won't attack ya if that's what you're afraid of, she has your name after all. [And a spell on her, but shh.]
no subject
Right. As long as she's got everybody else's name, too. [she sighs, willing to let that be the end of the attack as long as he is] Oh, you're welcome for the tip, by the way. Enjoy being cat-free.
[and, unless he stops her, she turns to walk away]
no subject
Your heroic act will be remember'd, inspector!
[And about the tiger, it will follow Menzies around, since Gabriel enchanted it so it'll act as a pet and guardian to her. Just for his entertainment, and hopefully, for her annoyance.]
