[There's a kid on the floor of the kitchen, making himself a sandwich. Nothing unusual about this, especially since it's this kid. Conan's house-trained, after all.

... then again, he is making the sandwich right there, on the floor. Sure, he's making it on a plate, so that's not as bad, but he's left one discarded banana peel behind him, and the lid of the peanut butter container has not been put back on. The kid's concentrating hard as he drizzles honey over his sandwich, but he's got peanut butter on an elbow, and a smudge of honey on his chin.

And he's not wearing glasses. Okay, so maybe this is weird.]

[It would be nice to bask in the praise, especially from Sherlock Holmes but Shinichi figures if he's not honest, Holmes will deduce it.]

That's not impressive, that's just Dad. He wrote a book about it.

But still! That's a big ... irregularity. It's good you found the shoes.

He writes a lot of books. He's a mystery novelist.

So, he doesn't solve crimes himself. Just writes about it? Does he have a detective he follows around too?

[Sherlock is very much thinking about John now. He misses his Blogger.]

Sometimes he solves crimes! If the Metropolitan can't solve anything, they call my Dad to help! And he's always the person in charge if there's a Kid heist! But if it's an ordinary case, my Dad just walks away saying something like 'Even your men can work this one out,' or gives them a hint. Ran's Dad says my Dad is a glory hound and a busybody and can't resist in meddling when he thinks that it'll get him the spotlight but my Dad says that Ran's Dad compensates for his own incompetence by talking down others and I shouldn't repeat what he says.

My Dad knows everything! And he's friends with Interpol!

[Shinichi may be bragging a little, but hey. His friends at school are already sick to death of hearing about detectives and cases and this isn't a chance Shinichi gets very often.]

Anyway, he reads me your stories at bedtime! I like the Sign of Four the best.

I want to go to London, but my Dad says not until I'm older otherwise culture is wasted on me.

Maybe that's just the Japanese translation? When my Dad's books are published, sometimes they change the names a lot!
