ஜ 3rd Rise of the Phoenix ஜ

[Anyone approaching the kitchen today will find it in a complete state of chaos as Ikki cooks in it. He's not used to work in a kitchen so he has just no sense of keeping things in order or anything, the times he sneaked inside a kitchen to get good when he was little he didn't have time to clean up after all. On a first sight it looks like the work of someone who may be out to destroy the kitchen rather than just use it, at least what he's cooking doesn't seem toxic even if he has created a huge mess to make it.]

Tch, I should have just returned and eaten whatever there was around.

[At least he seems to recognize that he has created a mess. But he doesn't seem willing to clean it at all. He eyes the food he was making, seems he has made too much but he supposes he can leave it here for whoever comes next if they want, he certainly isn't going to throw it away himself food isn't to be wasted.]

If you want food I made too much anyway. It would be a waste to not eat it.

[ It's okay Ikki. You say it best when you say nothing at all~ ] I think I'll take you up on that offer -- I haven't tasted your cooking yet.

[ And another countertop is cleared. Pokes suspiciously at what Ikki has prepared with a fork. ] What's this?

[ Did he use Hōyokutenshō to prepare it? 8D ]

[Deviled eggs, mashed potatoes and blueberry pancakes... Maybe he used it for the pancakes after all.]

I'm not surprised you haven't, it's not as if I would hang around long enough to bother to cook for anyone.

[He knows himself, okay.]

[ ... he probably mashed the potatoes with his fists, did he? ] I don't really think any of us have had time to cook for others. Others cook for us.

[ Before completely immersing himself into the food though, he looks for a pot to prepare some -- ] Tea? [ Would Ikki like some? ]

[He's not a brute. But if it makes you happy to think he did...]

Point. It has been a while since I bothered with cooking anything actually.

[He just nods at the offering of tea. Sure, why not.]

What have you been up to?

[Back when he was a kid the answer was easy, now however it probably isn't the same.]

[ Yay! I mean-- Kiki gets to preparing the hot beverage then. He knows Ikki not to be too picky so he takes the liberty of choosing the brew. ] Next time you cook, will you tell me? I'd like to join you.

[ Going along in his task -- ] In and out of the Plane -- trying to see if I can sit out of Julian Solo's upcoming gala but I'm being watched with eagle eyes. But today... today's more special than that.

[Not only he's not too picky but he probably doesn't know about brews so it would have been pointless to ask. Ikki arches an eyebrow though.]

I'll keep it in mind then for the next time if you really want to.

[A gala? Ugh.]

Why don't you just vanish for a few days?

[You know, like he does. No one can bother him that way.]

And why is today more special?

Thanks. [ As Kiki sets the water to heat, he chuckles lightly -- more at his fortune. ] It was Athena who was invited. She... insisted that I -- we escort her. Even Marin and Shaina are coming. Secretive as usual -- it's not like Tatsumi's retiring anytime soon.

[ He should learn that vanishing trick from Ikki. Can that be taught? ] It's Master's birthday today.

Athena also insisted in us not participating in the Holy War and you know how that went.

[They ignored her completely and participated so much that ended killing Hades. Ikki will never get why people have so many problems ignoring that woman's orders.]

Now she needs a whole team as escorts? Can't she just bother Jabu and the others to do it? I'm sure they would love to.

[You know, go and bother with her whims to the ones who have nothing better to do and would still play horse for her if she so desired. And the trick can be taught, but it requires first the power of ignoring Athena's words and Cosmos and callings.]

Is it? Hn, so are you going to make him a cake?

[ Getting the leaves in a pot -- ] The pattern's... how to say-- different, this time. She's gone to those parties often enough with just Tatsumi as escort. First time she's asked Saints to go with her. [ Sigh as he leans back on the counter. ] I agree with you on that but I can't tell if she has anything strategic in mind to have us tag along with her.

[ Nods. ] Yup. Well, I'll try. I've seen Shunrei make cakes and all, it shouldn't be too hard...

Sounds to me as if she's expecting problems then. Which makes me wonder why she even wants to go, besides putting herself in danger, as always.

[Some things never change. Just as Ikki's tendency of looking down at Athena won't change, unless it's not Saori, that is. But it doesn't matter how much he's called out on that, he just doesn't care and he doubts she really cares. If she does and it hurts her then it's just her fault for being so sensible.]

Want help with it?

There's that. I don't think a gala called "Gala of the Gods" is just a tired attempt at a pun.

[ Kiki had to give Saori credit for using the same tactics as that of celebrities and successful politicians -- when she's gone, Saints and anyone else who don't know any better long for her and will hang on to her every word once she makes her triumphant return. It helps that she has charisma and has a way with words -- as would any dazzling businessperson.

Anyhow he gives Ikki a smile. ]

Thanks for the offer, but this is something I'd really like to do myself. But you can help me clean up, though!

Definitively not. Sounds as if you'll soon have hard times between your hands.

[Ikki doesn't long for her, at least not this one. He would need to actually care for her to do that, but as much as he will follow her and go by her side when it's needed, Ikki doesn't care about her that much. And all her charisma does little to win him over, in fact he honestly despises her more because of the way she is, even when she's being the kindest being in the world, he feels as if his stomach twists over itself. She knows how to convince him to cooperate if it's needed, just as he knows when he has to cooperate despite his personal feelings. But he doesn't care, nor long for her or think highly of her.]

If that's what you want, suit yourself.

[He says nothing else but he starts to try to clean up a bit.]

[ Little resigned sigh. ] Heh. Tell me about it.

[ But! Before everything gets swept away, he samples the deviled eggs -- ] Oh hey! This is good!

[ And he's kind of surprised about it too! ]

[Why are you getting surprised about that? Ikki frowns a bit.]

I was the one who fed Shun up until we finally ended in an orphanage. Of course it's good, or at least decent enough to be eaten and not make anyone sick.

[Apparently he thinks that Shun is the perfect proof that he can't be a disastrous cook. Just a messy one.]

[ Kiki's expression shifts from pleasant surprise to gentle amusement. ]

That would definitely get you to practice. I'm not expecting your cooking to be toxic if that's what you're thinking. You have to admit Saints don't really have the time to dabble in culinary arts.

If it was toxic I wouldn't bother with it. You're right though, we don't have time to dabble in anything.

[Brief pause.]

Unless it's fighting to save that woman's neck.

Oi, can't you take a joke anymore?

[ Bit of a chuckle as he settles in, then regards Ikki with genuine curiosity. ]

It's not something you really liked, didn't you?

[When has he been able to take a joke? Ikki glances at the other and for a moment it looks as if he's considering playing dumb or evading the question.]

I'll never understand why Athena had to be her.

[Athena or not, he will never be a fan of Saori, though that's not a secret seeing as he's the only one who has never called her for her name. He may call her Athena but not Saori, he recognizes her as a goddess but not as a human. Being in the past and meeting Sasha is helping things, as he's getting to see that Athena doesn't have to be anything like Saori was, unfortunately it's also making him question how much of Athena was there in Saori's decisions and actions.]

And I don't get how Athena can be so different just because of a different human life, either.

They're women of their times.

[ And Kiki's unfamiliarity of the other shows itself: ] What do you think of Lady Sasha? We haven't really talked a lot...
