001: ...Another Opens
[The Doctor is working on some gadget for the TARDIS with his sonic as he steps onto the Plane. He walks a few steps, not noticing where he is and then freezes. He taps his foot on the ground. It's changed.]
That's not right.
[He looks up and looks around. A small smile appearing. He pockets the items he was working on and takes in the sight before him.]
All realities, all of time at the same instant. I mean, I see it like that all the time in m'ead. But this? This is fantastic!
[But that's all just an act. Seeing this place reminds him of the one place that isn't here. And that pain still burns raw within him. He sees a bar and enters. He only takes a glass of water, but is pleased to notice the Hyper-vodka is well stocked.
He looks around the room to see who's around.]

Let m'guess. Pinstripes?
[It was the only version of him he's heard mentioned so far.]
Y'know I don't work well with meself.
no subject
And ye don't think I've not noticed that, Doctor? Ye wanted to know about the missing people, though, and that other version of ye does know that. I suppose ye could always talk to...och, what was her name? Patricia, I think ye said. Er, the pinstripe-y one of ye.
no subject
He's from my future; he'll want to avoid me...
[The Doctor is afraid about what his future self will think of this him - what he's done... He has no forgiveness for himself. There's a faint shift from the grimace at the mention of Patricia.]
The Detective Inspector. We met.
no subject
[Granted, he doesn't know how thrilled Ten would be to see Nine again, but he knows they've worked together before. So he doesn't think there'd be active avoiding.]
But if ye don't want to talk to him, ye can always talk to her. She knows about what's going on there as well.
no subject
I'm not from the same point in time as before....
no subject
[Therefore, Jamie doesn't see that there's a problem. However, it's up to the Doctor to make the choice if he wants to go talk to himself or not, so he decides to leave things there for now.
Look, if ye don't want to talk to him, then don't. All I'm saying is that they know more than I do. Now, if ye wanted someone to show ye around a bit instead...
[That he can do.]
no subject
Yeah. I think I'd like the tour.
[Normally, he'd figure things out on his own, but a part of him doesn't want to be alone just now.]
no subject
Here. Ye might be interested in this one.
no subject
Fantastic! Is it stable?
[He might be just a hint giddy.]
no subject
[Not that Jamie would ever do that ever...okay, so maybe he completely did.]
Now, though, ye can't get near the thing.
no subject
Any reason why it's gettin' bigger?
[Because maybe it's not all that stable. And all these realities coming together is never stable.]
no subject
[He frowns, shaking his head.] It grew then, but it's not grown since that I've noticed.
no subject
Deathmatches? What were those and what about them affected the hole?
no subject
Not long after I first came here, one of the groups in charge at the time decided to pit us against each other, to fight until one of us was killed. That's when the hole got bigger.
no subject
Pitted you against each other... when you fought were any two people from the same reality? Or were you always fighting people from different realities?
no subject
[He frowns, thinking.] Ye know, though, I don't think anyone was from the same reality. [Well, maybe Brax and Narvin...] No, wait. There might have been one or two matches that were, but most of the time it just seemed to be luck of the draw.
(OOC: I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure what the sonic would pick up apart from the gravity field and maybe the invisible metal block that's in it?)
no subject
[The Doctor looks at the readout. He wasn't expecting much. But what he found was... a bit surprising.]
Well, that's less than helpful. But this... Well, there's something in it or near it. Metal by the looks. Know anything 'bout that?
no subject
I don't see anything in there. Are ye sure your sonic screwdriver's not being affected by whatever's making it impossible to get close, Doctor?
no subject
Actually... no.
[He can't be sure. He hates that.]
no subject
One of the others around here might know. Mu, maybe. [Or the other him, but he's not going to go and suggest that a second time.]
no subject
[Because the Doctor can see Jamie is worried. After giving him a chance to answer...]
Who's Mu?
no subject
As for Mu? Well, he's been here longer than just about anyone else at this point, so he'd be good to ask about what all's around this place. He's got long purple hair, so you'll be able to spot him easily enough.
no subject
And why would you have tried to pass through, hum? Didn't you learn anything from traveling with me?
[As if the Doctor ever took precautions. While it's a reproach, there's a great fondness to the tone. He missed Jamie. Especially in those first few horrid days after the forced regeneration.]
no subject
There was a friend of mine trapped on the other side, that's why. And, er, well, I'd not realised the beastie was still there when I started to go through the water.
no subject
So, you're sayin' you forgot about the creature. I thought I taught you better than that.
[The Doctor is laughing still, but it's obvious it's to cover up the pain that he might have failed yet another companion.]
